Strongholds are the small villages or compounds that you will find all around Sanctuary in Diablo 4, where there is an increased demonic presence. You will be able to clear out these strongholds by defeating lesser enemies and completing three mini-objectives.
Once you complete the missions the boss of the Stronghold will spawn and once you take it down you will need to light the Wanderer’s Shrine. When you do it, you will be able to reclaim the area and unlock the waypoint there.
There is currently a total of 15 Strongholds in the RPG, and here is a list of where you will be able to find all of them.
Every Stronghold location in Diablo 4 and how to clear them
As mentioned, there are currently a total of 15 Strongholds in Diablo 4 with each region in Sanctuary containing 3 each:
1) Dry Steppes Stronghold locations

The Onyx Watchtower
- You will need to destroy bandit rations and then beat various minibosses and then a final boss to clear this final boss.
Ruins of Qara-Yisu
- This stronghold is consumed by an ancient curse. To lift it you will need to destroy the Infernal Spires. This will trigger a boss fight and beat it to clear the area.
Temple of Rot
- Beware of poison damage when clearing out this Stronghold. Complete all the challenges it provides to unlock the Waypoint.
2) Fractured Peaks Stronghold locations

Nostrava
- You will find this Stronghold to the north of Nevesk. It’s going to be one of the most important Waypoints that you will need to unlock in the area.
Kor Dragan
- It’s one of the easier areas to clear. The Stronghold boasts a vampire theme, and you will not have to do much to complete it.
Malnok
- Malnok is a difficult one and will have enemies that are a few levels above you. Your build and class usage need to be on point if you are looking to have an easier time.
3) Hawezar Stronghold locations

Crusader’s Monument
- To be able to complete this Stronghold you will need to go up against three bosses at the same time.
Eriman’s Pyre
- Every enemy in the Stronghold will deal fire damage. One of the best ways of dealing with Eriman’s Pyre in Diablo 4 will be to have higher Fire Resistance in your armor or use Elixir of Fire Resistance.
Vyersez
- Enemies in the Vyersez Stronghold deal a lot of AoE damage. They can be quite tricky to safely take down so make sure to carry some health potions with you.
4) Kehjistan Stronghold locations

Altar of Ruin
- You will be able to find the Altar of Ruin by following the western coastline. It’s not too difficult to clear.
Alcarnus
- It’s one of the more tedious Strongholds to liberate in Diablo 4, and the missions that lead up to the boss fight takes a very long time to clear.
Omath’s Redoubt
- You will find Omath’s Redoubt near Ked Bardu. Head east from the city and you will come across this Stronghold.
5) Scosglen Stronghold locations

Moordaine Lodge
- You will find a shapeshifting Druid at this Stronghold in Diablo 4. There are three stages to the encounter and the fight can take a considerable amount of time to complete as the boss is pretty tanky.
Tur Dulra:
- If you are playing as a Druid you will automatically make your way to this Druidic College as a part of the class-exclusive questline. For other classes, you will need to make your way to the location after unlocking the region. Make sure that you are atleast level 25 before tackling it.
Hope’s Light
- Make your way through a maze to reach the stronghold. Clearing it is not too difficult and you will be able to clear it right away.
6) Nahantu Stronghold locations

Kichuk
- Rescue villagers and clear the nearby cave system, after defending the village from a Lacuni onslaught.
Festering Dark
- Use the Reliquary Lanterns to light warding braziers and defeat Maleficium enemies before lighting the Wanderer’s Shrine.
Chakhir
- Destroy brewing cauldrons and confront dregs before eventually fighting and defeating Sinerat and Skerg.
Can you reset Strongholds in Diablo 4?
Strongholds are one of the very few overworld events that you will not be able to reset in Diablo 4. Once you complete them for one character, you will not be able to do them again, and the Waypoint will forever be unlocked for every other character across your account.
The only way you will be able to replay a Stronghold is if you join a party leader who has not completed it and are yet to unlock the Waypoint.
