Joining a session and helping fellow hunters out is common, advisable, and generous in Monster Hunter Wilds. Like the previous games in the franchise, the latest title allows you to slay monsters together and for many, it makes the gameplay more enjoyable.
There are many advantages of playing in a team and if you’re ever struggling, having another player by your side helps in distracting the monster, giving you the time to polish weapons and consume healing items.
On that note, here’s how to join a Monster Hunter Wilds session mid-hunt.
Steps to join a session mid-hunt in Monster Hunter Wilds

First things first, there should be an SOS flare active for the hunt you’re willing to join and we have a detailed guide on this feature already.
Once you’ve ensured that your partner has triggered an SOS flare, follow these steps to join their session mid-hunt:
- Head to Alma on the base camp and open the quest counter.
- You can also access the quest menu from your tent.
- Lobby Member Quests and Link Member Quests tabs will display the ongoing quests that your lobby members or link members are in, respectively. However, to join these sessions, you must ensure that the person sending the SOS Flare is your Lobby or Link Member.
- The SOS Flare Quests menu displays random hunts you can join and there’s no requirement to be in the same lobby as these players or make them your Link member.
How to change platform settings in Monster Hunter Wilds
By default, Monster Hunter Wilds lets you join sessions of players from all platforms and there are no platform barriers for players wanting to join your hunt as well. If you wish to change these settings, though, follow these steps:
- Go to Quest Counter > Settings > Platform Permissions. Here, you can switch the setting from All Platforms to Your Platforms.
- The in-game Options tab also has Crossplay settings if you go to Game Settings. It should display Enable by default, and you can turn off the setting from here.
- We also recommend double-checking your Multiplayer Settings. Go to the Quest Counter settings > Multiplayer Settings. Here, the setting must not be Only Support Hunters. Switch to either Others Players & Support Hunters or Only Other Players if you want to be able to join sessions mid-hunt.
With these settings, you’ll be able to join sessions mid-hunt in Monster Hunter Wilds. By playing with your friends, you can aim for bonus rewards and make hunts easier.
