Wuthering Waves: Best characters for Tower of Adversity

As you reach Wuthering Waves’ end game, you will be able to unlock the Tower of Adversity. It’s a combat mode where you will need to take out waves of enemies in a given time.

Depending on how fast you can take them out, you will be provided with Crests. Crests will range from 0 to 3 and collecting these will help you get your hands on a fair amount of Astrites along with other in-game rewards.

Hence, Wuthering Waves’ end game is a lot about optimizing your team to the point where you will be able to earn the maximum number of Crests from each level in the Tower of Adversity.

The higher up you go in the tower, the more difficult the encounters get. Below, is a list of some of the best characters who shine in Tower of Adversity and are bound to make your late-game grind significantly easier.

Best Wuthering Waves characters for Tower of Adversity

Best AoE DPS: Jiyan

Jiyan Wuthering Waves
  • Attribute: Aero
  • Weapon: Broadblade

Jiyan tops the charts in DPS numbers when it comes to clearing out groups of enemies. The limited 5-star character comes with in-built CC tools and during his ultimate, he will be able to group non-elite enemies and instantly clear out a wave.

He is amazing at beating multi-wave content, however, his play style is very ultimate-reliant. Hence, you can properly build around Jiyan is going to be one of the best AoE DPS characters for Withering Waves’ Tower of Adversity.

Best off-field DPS: Mortefi

Mortefi Ascension Material Wuthering Waves
  • Attribute: Fusion
  • Weapon: Pistol

While a great 4-star Sub-DPS character, Mortefi’s strengths lie in his off-field potential. He can provide Coordinated Attacks when not active, and with his Resonance Liberation, he buffs Heavy Attacks with his Outro Skill.

This means that your party will be able to do more damage with him if another on-field character does a Heavy Attack. To optimize him further for Tower of Adversity it’s recommended that you unlock more Sequence Nodes and provide him with Energy Regen so that he can unleash Resonance Liberation more often.

Best single-target DPS: Calcharo

Calcharo Wuthering Waves
  • Attribute: Electro
  • Weapon: Broadblade

While boasting a combo-heavy playstyle, Calcharo remains one of the best single-target DPS characters for Wuthering Waves’ Tower of Adversity. However, apart from the late-game grind, Calcharo can help you breeze through some of the story and side content.

So if you have yet to pull him from the standard banners, we highly recommend that you do so as soon as you have the required amount of Tides.

Apart from his damage, Calcharo’s specialty lies in swap-cancels. He is one of the few characters in the game whose attacks can be swap-cancelled and consistently switching him in and out will increase his DPS potential. This makes him a bit hard to master, and you might need to invest some time in getting familiar with his play style.

Best consistent DPS: Havoc Rover

Rover Wuthering Waves
  • Attribute: Havoc
  • Weapon: Sword

The Havoc Rover has good sustained DPS. They are a great choice for a lot of the late-game content in Wuthering Waves, including Tower of Adversity. The protagonist of the RPG uses Forte Gauge and Resonance Liberation as their primary damage sources.

Even with the limited number of sequence nodes that you can unlock on them, they can be extremely powerful if you build around them.

Additionally, with the Havoc attribute, the Rover is capable of accessing Dreamless, which is one of the best damage-dealing Echoes in the game. With the right set-up, they will be able to clear enemy waves in an instant.

Best Support: Verina

Verina Wuthering Waves
  • Attribute: Spectro
  • Weapon: Rectifier

Verina is hands-down the best support character in Wuthering Waves at the moment. She has very powerful heals which scale with her total ATK. Verina can top up the HP bar of every ally in the party making it much more manageable to tackle some of the harder late-game content.

She pairs perfectly with most DPS and sub-DPS units, as her Outro skill heals the next on-field character while giving a 15% damage buff to the entire party. If you are looking to reach the higher levels in Tower of Adversity, then Verina is a must addition.

Best Sub-DPS: Yinlin and Sanhua

Yinlin

Yinlin Wuthering Waves
  • Attribute: Electro
  • Weapon: Rectifier

As a Sub-DPS character, Yinlin pairs extremely well with every main DPS unit in Wuthering Waves. She deals a good bit of AoE damage, however, her specialization lies in marking enemies and pulling off coordinated attacks.

She barely needs much on-field time to be effective, and is the perfect pick for clearing out multi-encounter content.

Additionally, Yinlin’s Outro skill provides the next on-field character with Electro and Liberation DMG Deepen. This significantly buffs their overall DPS output.

Sanhua

Sanhua Wuthering Waves
  • Attribute: Glacio
  • Weapon: Sword

While a Sub-DPS unit, Sanhua holds her own on the field and can become a good damage threat. She stacks up her Clarity mechanic by using Basic Attacks, allowing her to deal a ton of damage by herself.

Her Outro skills provide Basic ATK Deepen to the next on-field character. This makes her one of the best picks for pairing up with units like Havoc Rover and Encore, who rely on Basic Attack DPS.

When used right, she can be the best Sub-DPS character for climbing the Tower of Adversity in Kuro Games‘ RPG.
