Given how beautiful the Realm of Shadows looks, it’s no surprise that you would want to have a high framerate while playing Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
While you cannot increase the framerate from within the game, you can always use third-party software to break the 60FPS cap.
However, do keep in mind that using third-party software will restrict your ability to play online, or might even cause your game to break, so use it at your own risk.
How to remove 60FPS cap in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
To remove the 60FPS cap from Elden Ring’s first expansion, you’ll need to use a software called Flawless Widescreen. This software is generally used with games that don’t natively support ultra-wide monitor resolutions.
Although it’s very convenient to use, it will disable your anti-cheat, which means you won’t be able to co-op with your friends. If that does not bother you, here’s how you can use it:
- After you’ve downloaded and installed the app, find the Elden Ring plugin from the list of plugins. While installing the plugin, ensure that the Fix Enabled, Frametime Adjustment, and Remove 60Hz FS Limit boxes are checked.
- Once you’re done with the installation, take the slider all the way to 360FPS even if your monitor doesn’t support it.
- Ignore the EAC disabled warning and then navigate to the folder where you’ve installed the game. The default path is as follows: Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common> ELDEN RING.
- Within this folder, create a blank notepad file called “steam_appid” and paste “1245620” in the document. Make sure to remove the quotation marks from the name and the number while creating and saving the document, otherwise the process won’t work.
- After this, ensure that Steam is in offline mode, but don’t launch the game from there. Instead, launch it from the executable in the install directory.
- If you’ve done everything correctly, then you should be able to run the game at high FPS without any issues.
Once again, it’s worth noting that this is considered as a mod, so you won’t be able to play online. In case you want to play with your friends, you will have to avoid unlocking the framerate on Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
