The long-awaited Minecraft movie is finally out in theaters, and it is receiving a decent reception from fans across the world. The pixelated game‘s world has been represented very well, and the adventure-packed storyline is quite interesting to watch.
The film’s main plot follows Steve (Jack Black) and his companions, as they fight to defend the Overworld from the Ender Dragon. Like many modern-day blockbusters, the movie doesn’t stop at the credit scenes, and two post-credit scenes have been added. They are not just funny but also hint at a possible sequel that could be in the works.
This article explains the post-credit scenes of A Minecraft Movie.
Post-credit scenes of A Minecraft Movie explained

Main Post-Credits Scene: The Arrival of Alex
The true game-changer is the post-credits scene of A Minecraft Movie. Essentially, it takes place after Steve returns to his old home in the human world, expecting things to remain the way they originally were. However, when he ends up opening the door, he finds a stranger has already started living there. The woman has striking red hair, and introduces her as “Alex”
If you are an avid fan of the game, you will certainly know who Alex is. She is basically the second default player character introduced in Minecraft and offers you a female option to accompany Steve. Her appearance at the very end of A Minecraft Movie could be a major signal that the filmmakers are possibly leaving the doors open for a sequel.
The appearance of Alex shows a growing connection between the Minecraft world and the human one. It also sets her up as a possible co-lead, or even protagonist, in a sequel.
Mid-Credits Scene: Matt Berry’s Villager Cameo

Before the final post-credits, there is a mid-credits scene with a hilarious comedic twist, and it is centered around Jennifer Coolidge’s character, Vice Principal Marlene. It essentially is a conclusion of Marlene’s romance subplot with the villager who arrived in the real world.
Instead of the regular “huh” and “hrmm” sounds of Minecraft villagers, the particular villager in A Minecraft Movie suddenly begins speaking fluent English. He is voiced by Matt Berry, who is otherwise known for his work in What We Do in the Shadows and Toast of London.
All of this happens when Marlene’s ex confronts the couple. The villager then reveals that his love for Marlene has enabled him to learn the human language, and Marlene has also learned to speak the Villager language.
Although this scene might be mostly for the laughs, it could possibly be a depiction that villagers in Minecraft could be more intelligent than they seem. It eventually opens the door for more creative and comedic storytelling in possible future entries.
With both of these scenes, the filmmakers have done absolute justice. A Minecraft Movie has managed to accomplish what every good franchise starter needs to do, i.e., be entertaining while also laying the groundwork for possible future films.
