How to unlock all the endings in Dragon Age The Veilguard

Dragon Age The Veilguard has multiple endings, depending on the choices you make during the game’s 40-hour long campaign. While the RPG does technically offer a total of 3 endings, each ending can have slight variations in them that raise the count further.

A breakdown of all these 3 major endings, along with their requirements can be found below.

Good Ending

  • In Chapter 6, save Minrathous over Treviso in ‘A Warden’s Best Friend’.
  • In Chapter 12, choose between Davrin or Harding for the ‘Isle of the Gods’ mission’s distraction team. Keep in mind that the NPC you choose will die during the events of the mission.
  • Within the same chapter, choose between Bellara or Neve to defeat the wards. You will then be tasked with rescuing them later on.
  • In Chapter 13, make sure to hand over the correct roles to your companions during ‘The Last Gambit’. In short, assign Lucanis to the Antivan Crows, Taash to the Veil Jumpers and Davrin to the Grey Wardens and/or Mourn Watch to significantly boost their chances at survival.
  • In Chapter 13, absolutely make sure to complete the optional quest where you are tasked with honouring fallen warriors.
  • In Chapter 14, you will once again have to assign the correct tasks to your party. During the events of ‘The Dread Wolf Rises’, assign Taash to Divine Manor, and Harding, along with Neve/Davrin and Bellara to your current objective as supports.
  • Once completed, choose either ‘I wish things were different’ or ‘Let’s try this your way’ when prompted with the dialogue options.

Following the prerequisites above should ensure that most of your companions survive (except for Davrin/Harding). Additionally, make sure to complete all sub quests and companion upgrades (to make them achieve Heroes of The Veilguard), before finishing Chapter 11.

Bad Ending

In a nutshell, the Bad Ending for Dragon Age The Veilguard can take place if you fail to follow the steps mentioned in the Good Ending. This ending also has the most deaths.

To achieve this ending, you will have to avoid (most, if all) of the regional quests and achieve a 1-star rating for your factions, in addition to skipping companion quests.

Make sure to provide the incorrect tasks to your party during the events of Chapters 12 through 14 as well in order to have them die.

Secret Ending

The Secret Ending can be triggered before you reach the point of no return, during the events of Chapter 11:

  • Complete ‘Regrets of the Dread Wolf’ to obtain Mythal’s Essence.
  • Head to the first Mysterious Circle in Arlathan Forest, and point all the lasers to the crystals on the island.
  • Head to Necropolis Hall to find the second Circle. Make sure to defeat the boss within the room to head further.
  • The third and final Circle can be found in the Crossroads. Best all 3 champions within ‘The Heart of Corruption’ quest in order to open the door. Grab the Revenant Dragon and head back to find the Circle to your left. Climb up and interact with it.

Completing all these steps before the events of Chapter 11 will unlock a bonus cutscene after the Good Ending is completed.

Keep in mind that these items cannot be collected past Chapter 11.

How to keep all companions alive in Dragon Age The Veilguard

Neve Gallus Dragon Age The Veilguard

In short, it is not possible to keep all of your companions alive during the course of Dragon Age The Veilguard’s campaign.

While the steps mentioned for the Good Ending will keep a majority of your party members alive and well, you will have to sacrifice either Davrin or Harding during Isle of the Gods. Whoever you assign to the mission will die, so make sure to choose the character you may feel less inclined to.
