To make the most of Majima’s abilities early on, you will want to unlock some of his best skills right away in Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. The protagonists boast completely two different types of attack styles so it’s important to get the skills that complement both these styles.
However, unlocking skills needs a fair bit of money and Pirate Rank points. The former you receive by completing missions, selling junk, and more. For Pirate Rank Points, one of the best ways of getting a good deal of it is by completing all Ounabara Vocational School quizzes.
But once you have enough resources to get Majima’s upgrades, then here are some of the best skills that you might want to focus on first in the action-adventure title.
The best Majima skills to unlock right away in Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza
1) All max Health and Attack boost skills

This one is a no-brainer, to be honest. Encounters get significantly harder the further you progress in the narrative, so you will need all the help you can get to make progression easier.
So every time you get the chance put points in Majima’s Max Health and Attack. Both these skills have four initial levels but will unlock more tiers once you max them out. This will let you upgrade the stats even further.
Even if you are not looking to tap into the advanced tiers, we recommend that you at least get the four initial levels for both. This will help Majima tank more hits from elite mobs and bosses while dishing out more DPS himself.
2) Quickstep Boost

The Quickstep Boost will help Majima avoid damage during encounters. A Quickstep is a short dodge that you can perform in any direction, and with the boost, you will be able to use the mobility skill three times in a row when you are in the Mad Dog style and two times in a row in the Sea Dog style.
What makes this upgrade even more potent is when you pair it up with other skills like the Quickstep Strike and Perfect Quickstep. The former will let Majima automatically attack enemies after performing a dodge, while the latter will temporarily increase his attack speed after perfectly dodging an enemy attack right before it’s about to land.
3) Perfect Guard

If you like using the Sead Dog style more often then the Perfect Guard will be one of the best defensive skills that you will want to have on Majima early on. YOu perform a Perfect Guard by blocking an incoming enemy attack as soon as it’s about to land. If you time it perfectly, you will be able to create an opening to get in counterattacks.
You will be able to use perfect Guard against guard-break attacks as well, however, the move will not work on certain strong enemies, bosses, and elite mobs.
4) More Majima

With the More Majima skill you will be able to increase the total number of doppelgangers that you can summon in the Mad Dog Style. It’s one of the best skills that you can have in boss encounters as having multiple clones of Majime in a 1v1 encounter can make the fight significantly easier.
Moreover, each of Majima’s doppelgangers deals a fair bit of damage. So even if you are putting one level into this skill and not going into the advanced tiers, you will still have a very powerful tool in your arsenal that can make many bosses considerably more manageable.
5) Essence of the Mad Dog: Maul

The Essence of the Mad Dog: Maul is a special heat action that you can unlock for Majima which features his signature knife from previous franchise entries. It’s very similar to how it works in Yakuza 0 and you can perform it when you are low on HP and are surrounded by three or more enemies.
This can turn the tides of battle, as the move does a massive amount of damage, is extremely flashy, and will immediately break up the enemy’s formation.
