As you install The First Descendant in your system and log into Albion for the very first time, the game will not ask you to enter a name. The shooter will automatically take your Steam, PSN, or Xbox account name, based on the platform that you are on, as your ign.
However, not a lot of players will appreciate their account name being the same as the one they use inside the game. Hence, it’s not surprising why many in the community are looking for ways to change their name in The First Descendant.
Is it possible to change your character’s account name in The First Descendant?
There is currently no way to change your character and account name in The First Descendant. Nexon is yet to add that feature in the shooter, so if you have already made an account and logged in, you are pretty much stuck with that ign.
Even if you change your account name on Steam or the console, you are going to be stuck with the previous name that was chosen. Changing your Nexon account name is also not going to work.

So, the only way to make sure that you have the account name that you want in The First Descendant will be to log into the game for the first time only after changing your Steam and console user name.
If you have already logged into the shooter with an undesirable name, the only solution for you will be to create another account. However, this will also mean that you will lose all progress that you have made with the first one.
Additionally, any in-game purchases, rewards, and bonuses will also be lost. So only look to make another account if you haven’t made much progress on the previous one.
Will you be able to change your name in The First Descendant in the future?
There is a chance that with enough community feedback, Nexon might just implement a name-change feature in a future patch. So the community will need to keep their eyes peeled for it.
