With Destiny 2 Revenant, Bungie is shaking things up with Tonics, which are also known as potions in the RPG genre.
While the crafting feature is simple, you will still have to farm items to create these tonics for yourself. So, here’s everything you need to know about Tonics in Destiny 2 Revenant, and how you can craft them to make your journey in this Episode, easier.
What are Tonics in Destiny 2?
Tonics in Destiny 2, as mentioned above, are potions that you can use to either buff your abilities or target farm a specific gear in Revenant.
There are two variants of these potions available:
- Volatile Tonics: Buff Artifact perks and enhance their abilities.
- Enriching Tonics: Boost gear drops from specific activities.
These Tonics are available in three rarities, namely:
- Uncommon (Green)
- Rare (Blue)
- Legendary (Purple)
While the base variant of a Tonic (the Uncommon variant) is active for 20 minutes only, higher rarity variants last longer than that.
How to craft potions in Destiny 2
- Interact with the Tonic Table at the Last City Hub. You’ll find this beside Eido, the Scribe for House Light.
- Select the potions that you want to craft.
- Once you’re done with your selection, leave the table and walk to the closet beside you to grab the materials.
- Make your way behind Eido and interact with the tank behind her.
- Activate the machine to start crafting your Tonics for you.
It’s worth noting that you don’t have to follow the steps for every single potion that you craft. Since you’ll be crafting these items in batches, you’ll have to repeat the steps every time you craft a batch.
How to use a Tonic
- Head to your inventory and interact with the Tonic Capsule on your screen.
- When you select this, it’ll bring up all the Tonics that you have crafted so far.
- All you need to do is select the Tonics that you want to use.
It’s worth noting that you can have only one Volatile Tonic and an Enriching Tonic at any given time. If you consume a fresh one, then it’ll wipe the effects of the preexisting potion that was active.
How to get Reagents in Destiny 2 Revenant
There are two ways to get Reagents in Destiny 2:
- Reagents drop from all Revenant activities and by killing Scorn.
- Complete minor fieldwork challenges from Eido to get your hands on a small amount of materials.
While Eido’s minor fieldwork is a surefire way of acquiring Reagents in Destiny 2 Revenant, killing Scorn and completing runs of Onslaught: Salvation will give you more of these items.

How to unlock new Tonic recipes in Destiny 2
To unlock new Tonic recipes, you’ll have to craft the available potions multiple times. Crafting duplicates of an Uncommon Tonic will unlock the recipe for the Rare variant and so on.
There are a total of 15 Volatile Tonics and 30 Enriching Tonics that are available in Destiny 2 Revenant, which can help you deal with enemies and farm gear quickly and effectively.
