Destiny 2 Rite of the Nine: Featured Dungeons, Holofoil Weapons, More

With a new saga on the horizon, Destiny 2 has launched a mini-event known as the Rite of the Nine. Considering that the upcoming saga revolves around the Nine, it’s no surprise that Bungie chose them as the group to focus on as a part of the prologue.

This new mini-event is similar to Into the Light and will let you earn powerful weapons with improved perk pools. And despite dungeons being targetted at individuals who have somewhat experienced what Destiny 2’s endgame may look like, Rite of the Nine ensures that everyone can try out the featured dungeons, on a difficulty level they’re comfortable with.

Destiny 2 Rite of the Nine start and end date

The Rite of the Nine started on May 6 and will continue until July 15. Over these weeks, you’ll get to participate in three featured dungeons and collect the weapons and gear that they have to offer.

Just like Into the Light, when you attune to a specific weapon, the chance of receiving them as a reward increases by 50%. Once the event ends on July 15, you will directly be ushered into the Edge of Fate, which is the next saga in Destiny 2.

There are three featured dungeons in Rite of the Nine. They are:

  • Prophecy
  • Spire of the Watcher
  • Ghost of the Deep

Along with these three featured dungeons, you get a new social area called the Third Spire. If you’ve played Destiny from the very beginning, then you’ll recognize this area as the one that used to be there when Trials of the Nine existed as a major PvP activity.

You can play these three dungeons at three different difficulty levels, namely:

  • Explorer: Entry-level difficulty with guided mechanics for new players.
  • Eternity: Standard difficulty for experienced players.
  • Ultimatum: Contest mode difficulty so expect a lot of ads and higher boss health.

Destiny 2 Holofoil Weapons explained

Just like the shiny weapons from Into the Light, Bungie has introduced a new variant known as Holofoil Weapons. Despite having the same perk pool, these weapons look a bit different. Both regular and adept weapons have holofoil variants but these drops are extremely rare.

While it’s a regular cosmetic, you cannot remove and apply it to a weapon with a better roll. These are locked to the weapon that they’ve dropped on, in Destiny 2.
