Destiny 2 The Desert Perpetual is one of the hardest raids, and saw only a handful number of day one and contest mode clears.
While SnazzyRocks and his team grabbed the victory, there were a lot of other players who made it to the end, and not in a way that was intended.
Cheaters have always been a problem in Destiny 2, but most of them were restricted to the PvP side of things. However, that barrier has been broken and somehow, cheaters have overrun the World’s First Raid Race this year.
Bungie’s Ban Hammer Looms As More Than 50% Clears of Destiny 2 The Desert Perpetual Are Cheaters
As revealed by Tyler on X, individuals in the Destiny 2 community started checking out the raid reports of all the teams that claimed to have completed The Desert Perpetual on contest mode difficulty.
While there were a lot of legit clears in there, there were several accounts where it’s evident that the individuals had cheated.
From using blue weapons to complete the raid, to running through all encounters with a fireteam of less than six members, cheaters have done it all.
The Desert Perpetual wasn’t an easy raid at all, and you need to be extremely precise with everything to successfully complete it. However, given the combinations and the stats that most people have, it does seem that a lot of the said individuals have cheated.
Bungie is yet to release a statement about the same, but a ban wave might be in order at this point in time. Otherwise, it’ll just send a message that they don’t really care about what happens to their PvE side of things.
At this point, Bungie cannot really afford to let this slide under the radar. This is the first expansion in the new Fate saga, and the storyline has a lot of potential. So, they need to be extremely careful with how they deal with the entire cheater ordeal.
