Ability Items are capsules that you will pick up in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero and they are used to customize your favorite characters in the arena fighter. These capsules will help add additional buffs to your characters making certain challenging encounters and boss fights significantly easier.

How to use Ability Items to customize characters in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero

To be able to customize your favorite characters in Sparking Zer you will need to:
- Make your way to the Shop & Customization screen through the Main Menu and select the “Customization” option there.
- Here you will not get a list of all the characters that you have unlocked in the game, so pick the one you want to edit.
- You will now be able to apply Ability Items on them which look like Capsules. You will need to select an empty slot in their loadout and then equip the item.
- Here you will also be able to adjust other cosmetics like outfits and the background music that will play when the character enters Sparking mode.
- Once your loadout is set, exit the menu and the customization settings. You don’t need to save the loadout manually. This part of the game has an auto-save feature.
How do Ability Items work?
These Capsules, when equipped on the empty slots will be able to provide you with certain benefits. These buffs will include stuff like increasing the power of your Ultimate Blast or reducing the Ki consumption of attacks.
Ability Items like “Sparking! Plus” will make your Sparking mode last longer but it will reduce your defense during that time. Make sure you are tinkering with the different abilities and selecting the right loadout for your character. Much of what you choose will be based on the playstyle that you like to go for.

How to get Ability Item Capsules in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
While there is a chance to obtain an Ability Item Capsule as a drop from completing missions and Sparking Episodes in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, the best way of getting them will be to purchase them from the in-game shop.
You will need Zeni so make sure you are farming the currency optimally every chance you get. You can even get the Capsules by opting for a Shenron Wish. If you select “I want new ability items” during the wish, you will gain more capsules including the Ability items that are exclusive to Shenron, like Broly’s Ring.
Some capsules are specific to Bonus Battles, so make sure that you are completing those special scenarios as well.
