The Great Ape Vegeta fight happens on a rocky land with tons of giant rock formations and cover for Goku to hide behind and charge. The plan here is to knock Great Ape Vegeta in the rock formations.
Use heavy finishers as an ender and any other of your preferred combo. Doing so will knock the boss to your choice of rock formation, stunning him. Once that happens, take this opportunity to charge your Ki behind any large rock formation.
Ultimately, you’ll need to do a Kamehameha, Hyper Smashes, or a Sparking combo to defeat the boss, which requires ki. And this is the best way to gather some ki in this fight.
Use Kamehameha and Sparking Combos
Once you have enough ki while fighting Great Ape Vegeta in this boss fight, use it to shoot the Kamehameha or perform Sparking Combos. It deals a significant amount of damage to Vegeta and is a sure method to bring the boss’s health down.
Don’t waste your ki on attacks like the Kaioken attack because it deals negligible damage to Great Ape Vegeta in this boss fight.
Use dodge
Great Ape Vegeta uses Super and Ultimate Blasts at every passing moment. Fortunately, you can dodge these attacks and make your life easier.
Furthermore, if you successfully dodge this attack, you get time to charge your ki and perform either Kamehameha or Sparking Combos. You’ll get a brief cutscene before Great Ape Vegeta performs the blasts during the boss fight, so that is your cue.
