The upcoming Snapshot 25w05a update for Minecraft brings with it a ton of new features and changes, including the addition of new ambient sounds, bushes, and Cow versions.
Another major addition to Snapshot 25w05a are the firefly bushes, which serve as a drop-in replacement for actual fireflies in the game. More on this particular addition in the sections below.
All you need to know about Minecraft’s firefly bushes

Interestingly, Minecraft’s firefly bushes look a lot similar to the pre-existing bushes available in the game as of today. The change occurs during nighttime, when the bushes start glowing as fireflies start accumulating around it.
At nighttime, the bushes will emit a Level 2 light, which is just bright enough to be aesthetically pleasing. It should be kept in mind that this light does not serve to keep hostile mobs away at all, and is simply decorative in nature.
Using bone meal on a firefly bush will instantly spawn another clone nearby. While this particular addition has no functional use in Minecraft (as of the time of writing this article), it still helps retain player immersion and is just a glimpse of what to expect from upcoming updates to the game.
