Fans claim Fortnite ‘fumbled’ Toji Fushiguro & Ryomen Sukuna in latest Jujutsu Kaisen collaboration

It’s a new day and Fortnite has dropped yet another collaboration with Jujutsu Kaisen. At this point, the game’s multiverse is so expansive that Godzilla, Baymax, Ninjas, and Samurais are all part of the Battle Pass and the Shop has its own set of unique cosmetics to offer.

To be fair, all these unrelated characters still feel in place in a Battle Royale game because they look amazing. Fans have generally been satisfied with the cosmetics based on their favorites and they don these items confidently in lobbies.

Having said that, the bar for skins in Fortnite has become so high over the years that with every release, the community expects Epic Games to include nitty-gritty details or set a new benchmark in terms of design and innovation.

The latest wave of Jujutsu Kaisen skins in the game have been buried under such expectations as well because the Toji Fushiguro outfit is being called lazy, underwhelming, and whatnot.

This post on the r/FortNiteBR subreddit criticized the Toshi outfit and was able to fetch thousands of upvotes within hours:

Be it Reddit or X, the consensus seems to be that Epic Games should’ve put more effort into the Toji outfit. Apparently, the skin is based on his resurrection form which isn’t his best appearance in the anime.

The lack of additional edit styles is also disappointing, considering he’s one of the primary antagonists in the series and has been blessed with many memorable looks.

In a more detailed post, this Reddit user highlighted some of the key design flaws in the Toji skin and what could’ve been a better design option:

Judging by the overall response, fans of JJK might’ve been more satisfied with Toji’s skin if his Inventory Curse ability would’ve appeared as a backbling. The inconsistent shaprening of other items in the bundle like the Playful Cloud backbling is another bone of contention for some fans.

Ryomen Sukuna’s skin is being criticized on similar grounds because it’s based on the character’s look in the first season which is basically when he wasn’t as intimidating and cool-looking.

It is important to note that crossovers are finalized way before you actually see them in the game. This could be a reason that the designs do not match well with the current themes of the series.

For now, the only hope for fans is that the developers revisit this collaboration in the future and add the desired edit styles for both Ryomen Sukuna and Toji Fushiguro.
