Unlike in the campaign, you will get to create your own marine and pick a class, and loadout in the Operations and Eternal War game modes in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2. There are currently six classes, however, the game does not clearly state how you can switch between them when you are booting up either of the two game modes.
You will be able to change the class and loadout of your character to a certain extent. And the guide below goes over how you will be able to do it.
How to change class and loadout in Space Marine 2 Operations
When you are starting an Operations Mission for the first time in Space Marine 2, you will be asked to select your class. However, you will be able to change it while you are on the Barge at the Armouring Hall.
This happens before the start of a mission or after you have finished or quit a mission. You will be able to fast travel to the location and by interacting with the terminal there you will be able to change your class. The class that you have selected before exiting the terminal will be the one you have presently equipped.
Along with the class, you will also be able to change your loadouts at the Armouring Hall. This will let you equip new weapons and armor and armor that you have unlocked after leveling your marine up.
To change the weapon in your current loadout you will need to select the weapon slot and then scroll to the weapon you want and select it. However, unlike with classes, you will be able to change your loadout mid-operation.
While you are stuck with the class that you have picked before the mission, you will be able to change your Loadout by interacting with drop pods. These can be found in specific places on the map during an Operation and interacting with it will let you change loadout.
Note: Loodout changes in the middle of an operation will let you replace your Primary, Secondary, and Melee weapons. It will not let you change the grenade type that you have equipped.
How to change class and loadouts in Erenal War PvP mode
Class selection in Eternal War mode plays out a bit differently. Pre-selecting the class and loadout at the Armouring Hall is not going to matter much. This is because you will be asked to select your class as well as a loadout at the start of every match.
Moreover, you will be able to change your class and loadout as many times as you want in the middle of a PvP game. Hit the pause menu and select “Change Class”, select the one that you want and during your next spawn you will automatically switch to the class and loadout that you selected.
