How to get 3 OP Monstie Variants as early as Chapter 1 in Monster Hunter Stories 3

The early game grind in Monster Hunter Stories 3 can be made significantly easier if you can get your hands on 3 incredibly op monstie variants: Dreadqueen Rathian, Ivory Legiacrus, and Boltreaver Astalos.

You will be able to get your hands on them as early as chapter one, and they are significantly more powerful than any other monstie that you will come across in Azuria.

They are pretty easy to get, but to unlock the variants, you will first need to unlock the base form and then use the Habitat Restoration system for the mutations.

How to get Dreadqueen Rathian in Monster Hunter Stories 3

S-Rank Dreadqueen Rathian

Getting the Dreadqueen Rathian is the easiest, as it ties in with the first Habitat Restoration quest that you get. The quest asks you to raise the Rathian rank to S in the Sunpetal Plains.

It’s pretty straightforward to pull off, as all you will need to do is search for the eggs in the dens, preferably at night, and then keep releasing the Rathians till the rank reaches S.

While doing this, you will unlock the Pink Rathian first, and then the Dreadqueen Rathian.

Now, the best thing to do will be to take the Dreadqueen’s rank to S so that you can unlock the Very Potent versions of her eggs.

How to get Ivory Legiacrus in Monster Hunter Stories 3

Ivory lagiacrus Monster Hunter Stories 3

This Legiacrus Variant is also something you will be able to get an S-rank of in Stories 3. To get it, you will first need to unlock Legiacrus, which is tied to an Invasive Plesioth.

To find this monster, you will have to head north of Mirror Lake, where you will find a narrow water stream going off from the lake and into a submerged cave. Head there at night, and you will find the Invasive Plesioth there.

Now the goal here will be to repel it, and you can do this by breaking its head with the help of fire-based attacks. So make sure to use Ratha or any other fire-breathing monster, as well as a fire-element weapon, to make it easier.

Once you repel the Plesioth, head into the den that spawns and get your hands on the Legiacrus egg.

You can unlock the monster on the map by releasing the hatchling into the wild.

For the next step, you will want to get Legiacrus to Rank A in any habitat. This will unlock the Ivory mutation.

And much like with Dreadqueen Rathian, you will also want to get your hands on a Very Potent version of this.

Boltreaver Seregios Monster HUnter Stories 3

Once again, for the Boltrreaver Astalos, you will need to unlock its base variant first. Astalos gets added to the map after you repel Invasive Seregios, which can also be found to the north of Mirror Lake.

It’s above, and to the east of the cave where you find the Invasive Plesioth, and to get there, you will need a flying monster and ride the closest wind current to the top of the cliff.  Finally, keep going north, and you will find Seregios there, as long as you are making the journey at night.

The trick to repelling this Invasive monster is to use a hammer that has the Perfect Crush skill.

In the early game, the Legiacrus Vortex Hammer is the only one that has this skill. So make sure you are taking down a few of the Legiacrus in the wild to craft it.

Once you have it, encounter the Seregios and use the Perfect Crush skill when it targets you with an enraged attack (will occur after a few rounds).

Your ranger will then go into a short animation where they will use the hammer to repel the attack.

Seregios will get hit by its own scales, and you will have successfully repelled it, unlocking the Astalos egg.

But to unlock Boltreaver Astalos is a bit complicated. For this variant, you will need to have ranked Astalos to rank S in a sub-zone while having atleast three monsters in the zone that have thunder as their primary element.

The best way of meeting this requirement is to release Astalos in the Broadleaf Basin, which is already native to Tobi Kadachi. You can further supplement this by releasing Ivory Legiacrus and Legiacrus in this zone as well.

This will let you easily unlock the mutation, and you can soon get your hands on a very potent variant of Boltreaver Astalos
