A Portable Miner is a key instrument that you will need to get your mining system going in Satisfactory. Building it also unlocks an achievement in the game, and getting your hands on one of these will be part of gameplay progression.
Portable Miners are a small and portable version of the regular Miner in the game. To unlock it in Satisfactory you will need to meet certain conditions and have the necessary resources to craft them.
How to build a Portable Miner in Satisfactory
In order to make a Portable Miner you will need to:
- Complete HUB Upgrade 1. This will provide you with the Tier 0 Milestone and you will be able to unlock the schematics for the device.
- You will then need to in interact with the Equipment Workshop and use the following resources to craft it:
- 2x Iron Plates
- 4x Iron Rods
- Once done, confirm your selection and you will be able to get your hands on a Portable Miner.
How to use the Portable Miner in Satisfactory
Once you have the device you will then be able to use it by:
- Opening your inventory by hitting Tab and then double-clicking on the Portable Miner to have it in your hands.
- You will then need to use the Resource Scanner by pressing V and then scan your surroundings for resource nodes that you want to mine.
- Once you find the node, explore the area around it. You will eventually get a prompt that will let you start mining the ore. Just left-click when the prompt comes and your character will automatically deploy the Portable Miner.
- The device will then start mining the ore and you will be able to collect the resource from it at any given time.
Do keep in mind that there is a cap up to which the Portable Miner will store the mined resource for you. It will stop mining once the cap is reached so make sure you are collecting the ore regularly to free up the slots.
