Sparking Episodes are special alternate scenarios and what-if battles that you will be able to unlock in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. These unique stories have a much bigger impact than the usual what-if scenarios and you will get to discover them as part of every character’s story mode.
Story modes are Episode Battles that will contain alternate cutscenes or what-ifs if you are meeting certain conditions. Each Sparking Episode will have a unique unlock attached to it ranging from additional Zeni, character unlocks, and more.
However, Sparking Episodes cannot be unlocked if you’re playing the Episode Battles on lower difficulties. However, you can use a Dragon Orb to lower the requirement of the secondary objective which is needed to unlock the what-if scenario.
Here is a guide on all the Sparking Episodes that are currently available in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero and how to unlock them.
Unlocking Goku’s Sparking Episode
Goku has two Sparking Episodes in the very first chapter itself:

| Chapter 1 | You will need to decide to work with Piccolo in “The Earh’s Mightiest Duo” mission and then beat Raditz as fast as you can in the “Rematch and Result” mission. So just go up behind him and unleash combos followed by an ultimate to defeat him. This will unlock the “Pushing The Limit” arc and let you see Goku’s Sparking Episode. This will also lead to you saving Yamcha in a later chapter. |
| Chapter 1 | Choose to go after Raditz alone to unlock the “Side by Side” mission and then do enough damage to “Wear down Raditz” in a given time. Once you meet the condition you will be able to unlock all the scenarios. |
Unlocking Vegeta’s Sparking Episode
Vegeta’s first Sparking Episode is found in Chapter 2 and the second one is unlocked in Chapter 3:

| Chapter 2 | In the battle against Android 18 in the mission “Wind-Up Doll” you will need to beat Android 18 within an unspecific time limit. this will let you survive against her, thereby unlocking the “Parental Bond” Sparking Episode. You will then need to defeat Super Trunks as fast as possible in the “Vegeta And Trunks” mission. This will open up the rest of the Sparking Episode in their chapter. |
| Chapter 3 | During the mission “Vegeta’s Wicked Heart” Babidi will try and take over his mind. The cutscene will then present you with two choices, you can either submit or shake it off. If you shake it off, you will unlock the “Number One Spot” Sparking Episode. |
Unlocking Gohan’s Sparking Episode
Gohan just has one Sparking Episode which is unlocked in Chapter 5:

| Chapter 5 | During the “Defend Earth from the Frieza Force!” mission in the Resurrection F saga, you will need to defeat the Frieza Soldiers as fast as possible and then deal as much damage to Fireza as you can. If you meet the condition you will unlock the “The Strongest Warrior” Sparking Episode. |
Unlocking Piccolo’s Sparking Episode
Piccolo’s Sparking Episode has two parts that are tied to each other. One part is in Chapter 2 and the other in Chapter 3:

| Chapter 2 | During the mission “Piccolo Returns to his Birthplace” you will need to defeat Fireza as fast as possible. This will then unlock the mission “Piccolo’s Struggle” which you will need to complete before reaching the canon path. |
| Chapter 3 | During the “Faint Unease” chapter you will given a choice to help Goku or to observe his fight with Android 19. Choose to help him and you will get the Sparking Episode of “A Mentor’s Guidance” where the story will focus on Piccolo and Gohan. |
Unlocking Future Trunks’ Sparking Episode
Trunks has two Sparking Episodes that you can unlock at the end of Chapter 6. However, the conditions to meet them are pretty hard:

| Chapter 6 | In the final mission of the chapter “Trunks’ Choice,” you will need to face off against Vegeta, Piccolo, and Gohan one after another “To Become Strongest in the Universe”. You need to show them the results of your training and beat them within an unspecified time frame. The mission is incredibly hard to pull off within the limit so make sure to use Dragon Orbs if you are struggling. Once you meet it you will unlock the “Inherited Pride” Sparking Episode where Trunks shows up in the Tournament of Power. Here if you choose to follow Vegeta you will unlock a particular what-if: “Father or Teamwork?” |
| Chapter 6 | Complete the steps given above, but instead of following Vegeta, follow Gohan and you will get the other Sparking Episode. |
Unlocking Frieza’s Sparking Episode
Frieza has a lot of what-if paths that you will be able to take when you are looking to unlock his Sparking Episode:

| Chapter 5 | Reach the “Frieza Revived” in Chapter 5 where you will see Golden Frieze going head-to-head with Vegeta and Goku in their Super Saiyan Blue forms. You will need to defeat them both in an unspecified time and successfully doing so will unlock the “Frieza Force Joins The Fray” arc. Once the arc starts you will have many options each of which will lead to a different what-if, however, for the Sparking Episode you will need to pick King Cold. |
Unlocking Goku Black’s Sparking Episode
Goku Black’s Sparking Episode is one of the faster ones to unlock in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero:

Unlocking Jiren’s Sparking Episode
Jiren’s Sparking Episode is one of the hardest to unlock:
