Tigrex and its Brute and Grimclaw mutations are pretty overpowered monster variants that you can get your hands on as soon as you gain access to Tarkaun in Monster Hunter Stories 3.
These are some of the best non-elemental monsties at this stage of the game, and can help you have an easier time progressing through some of the hardest content that the mid-game has to offer.

How to unlock Tigrex in Stories 3
To get the Brute and Grimclaw mutations, you will need to unlock the base monster first, by repelling an Invasive Diablos.
Now, to find this monster, you will need to head to the Rococo Rocks: Lookout Point Catavan Stand, and then take the little corridor to its south, till you reach a wall that you can climb on.
Do make sure that you are doing this at night, and once you reach the top, you will find the Invasive monster waiting for you there.
And you can choose to go around collecting the clues, or you can just start the encounter right away.
To repel the Invasive Diablos, you will need a hammer that comes with the Meteor Hammer skill.
After the initial couple of rounds, the Diablos will start to dig and then launch an AoE attack, which cannot be countered. After this, he will leave behind three little piles of dirt, and he will leap out from any one of them.
You will need to use the Meteor Hammer on the correct pile that he will leap out of, or he will one-shot the target.
There is a fair bit of RnG to the process, but you can always keep choosing the same hole over and over again, and you are eventually going to hit the mark.
This will lead to a small repel animation where you counter the monster’s move, successfully meeting the repel requirement, allowing you to finally get your hands on a Tigrex egg.
The Tigrex has a couple of powerful, low Stamina cost non-elemental moves, but with reduced accuracy. This then ties into the Lock-on skill that it comes with, which ties into its entire gameplay set-up.
How to unlock Brute Tigrex in Stories 3
Getting the Brute Tigrex is relatively simple from here, and all you will need to do is take the Tigrex’s rank to A in any ecosystem.
However, we recommend that you release all your Tigrex in the Rococo Rocks, as it will then tie into Grimclaw’s unlock condition.
Now the Brute Tigrex also has some low-cost but powerful non-elemental moves with reduced accuracy. This once again ties in to having the lock-on ability to make sure that the moves are being effective.
How to unlock Grimclaw Tigrex in Stories 3
The reason why we are asking you to get your Tigrex rank to S in the Rococo Rocks is so that you are able to meet Grimclaw’s unlock condition, which requires you to raise Tigrex’s rank to S in a habitat that has four or more Power Type monsters.
The Rococo Rocks, fortunately, has Diablos, Black Diablos, and Gravios, who are three powertype monsters. So you will just need to add one more to the ecosystem to unlock Grimclaw.
Once you do, you are going to get your hands on this incredibly powerful variant.
Grimclaw also has hard-hitting attacks with low accuracy, so you might want to have the lock-on ability on it.
