In true live service fashion, Marvel Rivals is bringing with it a slew of updates set to release sometime later this year – starting with the launch of four new playable characters. Marvel’s Fantastic Four family is all set to join the game at a later date this month.
Developer Netease Games has already prepared a post for the event, which leads into a teaser for the corresponding trailer. More on the same detailed below.
Marvel Rivals to reveal the Fantastic Four as part of its official playable character lineup soon
As detailed within the Twitter/X post linked above, Netease Games is set to launch the first ever family into Marvel Rivals – the Fantastic Four.
The members include:
- Mister Fantastic – Reed Richards
- Invisible Woman – Susan Storm
- The Thing – Benjamin Grimm
- Human Torch – Johnny Storm
While the more keen eyed readers may remember a playable Johnny Storm as being part of recent leaks, the inclusion of the other three members of the family is a welcome surprise.
Details surrounding their kits are rather scarce at the moment (with the exception of Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch) , but should be made available rather soon.
The post also goes into detail about an upcoming teaser reveal for the characters, slated for January 6, 2025 at 8:00 AM PST (4 PM UTC) – which should reveal some additional information on their powers, roles, abilities and availability.
Roles and abilities for the Fantastic Four
Based on the family’s powers and roles in the Marvel Universe, they can be sorted into the following classes/roles:
- Vanguard: The Thing/Benjamin Grimm
- Duelist: Human Torch/Johnny Storm
- Duelist: Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards
- Strategist: Invisible Woman/Susan Storm
Mr. Fantastic abilities
- Stretching Strikes: Mr. Fantastic extends his arms to punch enemies at a distance
- Multi-Target Grab: Grab two enemies at once to collide them against each other
- Muscle Inflation: Buff up and deflect incoming attacks
- Ultimate: Throw a series of aerial slam attacks
