Support Hunters are NPCs who will help you out in your hunts if you need them to in Monster Hunter Wilds. They are extremely useful if you are struggling with a particular encounter, allowing you to have a significantly easier time progressing through certain content before you have a proper build going.
Support Hunters are especially handy for those who are new to the Monster Hunter franchise. The combat mechanics in the game can take a fair bit of time to get used to, as each weapon in the RPG, has a decently high skill and learning curve.
So before you start mastering your hunts, the Support Hunters will help you through most of the story progression. So if you want to make the most of this system in Monster Hunter Wilds, then the guide below will help you out.
How to bring Support Hunters to a quest in Monster Hunter Wilds

To just bring Support Hunters to a quest in Monster Hunter Wilds there are two things you will need to do in particular:
Step 1: Change the Quest Counter Settings
Before starting a quest you will need to open the Settings menu at the Quest Counter. Here set Multiplayer Settings to either: “Other Players & Support Hunters” or “Only Support Hunters”. We would recommend the latter if you only want Support Hunters to join the quest.
Once you pick the option, the next thing you will need to do is to set Max Members to 2 or more. If you set it to 1 then the number of hunters that can take on the quest will be 1, which is you, and a Support Hunter will not be able to join the quest.
Alternatively, you can change the party size while in the middle of a quest. To do this, head to the Expand Party Size option which is under the Missions & Quests tab in the Settings menu.
Step 2: Fire and SOS Flare
Once a quest begins, you will need to fire out an SOS flare. If you have the Multiplayer Setting on “Only Support Hunters”, then you will be able to summon the NPCs right away.
Alternately, if you wish to have Support Hunter with you as soon as a quest begins, you can make your way to the Quest Counter Settings, and change the “Automatic SOS Flare” setting to ON. This will always make sure that you are not hunting alone in Monster Hunter Wilds.
All Support Hunter features in Monster Hunter Wilds

1) Each Support Hunter has a different weapon
Every Support Hunter in Monster Hunter Wilds has a different weapon of their own. They will aid you in combat and will make most hunts significantly easier.
2) Support Hunters will perform the same actions as you
Apart from attacking the monsters with you, Support Hunters are capable of healing, buffing, as well as setting down traps, mounting monsters, and staggering them. They will often perform moves that will leave the monster vulnerable for a while to your hardest-hitting combos.
3) Support Hunters will attack only when you attack
Support Hunters will not go out of their way to attack a large monster that is passing by if you are ignoring the monster yourself. They only attack monsters that you are attacking and will also stop attacking them if you have stopped attacking them.
This makes sure that Support Hunters are not capable of taking down monsters just by themselves.
4) Support Hunters will fill in your party when no other player joins your hunt
If you have used the SOS Flare under normal multiplayer conditions and no players have joined your quest, then the Support Hunters will spawn. As long as there is at least one empty slot, you will have a Support Hunter on the team. However, if another player joins your SOS, then the Support Hunter will give up their slot.

Will Support Hunters increase Monster Health in Wilds?
Yes, but only in Hight Rank! Adding Support Hunters to your HR quest will increase the Monster’s overall health. Monster health increases according to the number of hunters in a quest and Support Hunters are counted towards it.
So irrespective of normal players or Support Hunters joining a quest, the monster HP will go up. The table below shows the HP multiplayer that monsters will receive once you get additional hunters in your party:
Players | Monster Health |
---|---|
2 | 1.6x |
3 | 2x |
4 | 2.4x |
So if you are inviting 3 Support Hunters to a quest, then the monster’s health will go up by 2.4 times its normal HP.
Note: In Wilds, if a hunter leaves while in the middle of a quest, the monster’s health will be adjusted accordingly. You will no longer have to fight a monster who has a buffed HP pool.
