What is the release date for the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta 1?
After the official trailer for The Black Flame went live, Capcom confirmed the dates for the demo, which will be in the form of an open beta test. There are two times in which this open beta test will take place, which you can check below:
- PlayStation 5 PS+ exclusive early access: October 28, 2024, at 8 PM PT – October 30, 2024, at 7:59 PT
- PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam open beta: October 31, 2024, at 8:00 PM PT – November 3, 2024, at 6:59 PM PT.
Considering that the game launches on February 28, 2025, it is extremely early for Capcom to release an open beta test. For context, the previous open beta for Monster Hunter World was conducted one month before the launch of the game. So that is something positive to look forward to.
What can we expect from the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta test?
As already shared by Capcom, players can access the entire character creator without any restriction in the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta test. There won’t be any restrictions on how many times you can remake your character, and the open beta character can be carried over to the full release.

Players can also access the story trial to check out the opening cutscene and play through the Chatacabra hunt. This will give everyone a feel of the weapons in-game.
Furthermore, players can also participate in the Doshaguma hunt, making you defeat the alpha of the Doshaguma pack. Players can explore the vast location on the Seikret and switch between two weapon types on the fly.
And yes, you can enjoy all of this with your friends on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, as there will be crossplay in open beta.
So far, this is all the information that we have available about the title. Be sure to bookmark this page and keep checking back because we’ll be updating whenever there’s more information available.
As far as the second open beta goes, expect improvements in gameplay and technical fixes. Rendering and performance issues are however, not going to be addressed in the beta.
Gameplay balance changes and weapon mechanics will not be carried over to the betas either.
This will instead, be focused on in the full, retail version of the game which will target 60 FPS across all consoles – as well as more optimizations for the PC.
