Monster Hunter Wilds stutter and crashing fix for PC

Monster Hunter Wilds is finally out for consoles and PCs, and this next-gen Monster Hunter game brings with it a lot of technical improvements and changes over prior titles. However, the game still has its fair share of issues, and players might notice that they run into the occasional crash, glitch or bug during their time playing Wilds.

As such, a list of common fixes, along with their causes can be found detailed in the sections below for easy reference.

How to troubleshoot Monster Hunter Wilds crashing and stutter on PC

Update your GPU drivers

The best way to deal with stutter and crashes in Monster Hunter Wilds is to check if you are running the latest GPU drivers for your card. Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to clean your existing drivers from Windows, and download the latest drivers from the respective pages of your GPU vendor.

Once downloaded, run the installers, and wait until your graphics drivers are updated. Restart your PC and you should notice a significant uplift in gaming performance for Wilds.

Enable XMP in BIOS, and see if your CPU meets the minimum requirements

Monster Hunter Wilds is extremely CPU bound, and as such mandates a powerful multi-core CPU to go along with it. Make sure your CPU (and system) exceeds the minimum requirements, or else you might have a lot of trouble maintaining a steady frame rate.

Enabling XMP via your BIOS is also highly recommended, as is using dual-channel memory. If the option does not exist for your motherboard (as in the case of laptops), there isn’t much else to do though.
You can also consider updating your BIOS to stabilize performance.

Wait for mods and patches to appear

Unfortunately, there is not a whole lot to do but wait until Capcom gets involved and releases an official fix for these issues. A day one patch, among others should be made available, and the performance of the game is expected to be a lot better when compared to the beta.

For those looking to experiment, it might be better to hold off until mods are released for the game – of the performance boosting variety.
