Wonder Picks are a great way to obtain new cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket, but there’s mostly a 1/5 chance of obtaining the card you want. The temporary Sneak Peek feature is a sigh of relief for many, but even after using it, you’re never guaranteed the desired drop.
While there’s no way to get past a rigid gacha system, a careful approach can help you boost the odds significantly. Below, we’ve explained the best way to go about Wonder Picks in Pokemon TCG Pocket, helping you get the rarest cards in the game.

Do note that a lot of Wonder Pick tricks for Pokemon TCG Pocket float on the internet to bait players, claiming that there are ways to always pick the right card. None of these claims are true as the card you pick is totally random, and there is no way to always be correct about these picks.
What cards should you target from Pokemon TCG Pocket Wonder Pick?
First things first, it is important to know which cards are hard enough to get by from the packs in Pokemon TCG Pocket.

The rarity of the card is showcased through diamonds or stars on the bottom left corner, and here’s how it impacts the Wonder Stamina cost in Wonder Pick:
Rarity of the rarest card in the Wonder Pick pack | Wonder Stamina cost |
---|---|
◇ | One Wonder Stamina |
◇◇ | One Wonder Stamina |
◇◇◇ (holos) | Two Wonder Stamina |
◇◇◇◇ (ex) | Three Wonder Stamina |
★ | Three Wonder Stamina |
★★ | Four Wonder Stamina |
The ★★★ immersive cards are not available through the Wonder Pick feature for obvious reasons.
The only cards you should be aiming for in a Wonder Pick are the holos (◇◇◇), ex (◇◇◇◇), and full arts (★ & ★★). Holo and full arts instantly stand out because of their borders and detailed artwork, while ex cards can be extremely useful in battles.
Pokemon TCG Pocket Wonder Pick strategy
As soon as you open the Wonder Pick menu, look for two things. The Wonder Stamina cost and the number of dupes in the set. Patience is key, and you should only select a set that contains at least two cards missing from your collection.
This is important because the cost of the Wonder Pick is only determined by the rarity of the rarest card in the set. Both, a set with one ◇◇◇◇ (ex) card and a set with two ◇◇◇◇ (ex) cards, will cost you three Wonder Stamina, so it’s best to wait for a set with multiple options.
Both these factors are explained in the image below:

Of course, as you progress and go past lv. 20, it’ll be almost impossible to have two missing cards in a set. Then, you should open packs with the best duplicates available. This is because you can use one duplicate card in your deck and trade the rest.
Holding on to duplicate cards is a very underappreciated strategy, as you can trade them when they’re out of the ongoing pack rotation. Even the relatively common cards can become valuable if traded at the right time.
In the image below, we’ve used examples to help you better understand the strategy:

Sneak Peek in Pokemon TCG Pocket Wonder Pick explained
Sneak Peek is a temporary feature added to Wonder Picks, allowing you to unveil one card before actually making the Wonder Pick. If you’re able to sneak a peek at the desired card, you basically get a 100% drop rate Wonder Pick.
Even if you don’t find your card, your odds of getting the card you wanted are increased by 20%.

It is important to note that not every Wonder Pick allows a Sneak Peek, and you’ll get this advantage quite randomly.
From what we’ve noticed so far, it looks like there’s almost a 50% chance of a Wonder Pick allowing Sneak Peek, and you’ll be able to know about it only after spending the Wonder Stamina and entering the card selection screen.
Sneak Peek is available till April 10, 2025. It is safe to assume that this mechanic will return eventually, but until then, you should focus on mastering the strategy explained above.
