It’s hard to believe Roblox began life as a rather innocuous little multiplayer game, way back in 2006. The game has obviously grown massively since then, amassing an astonishingly large number of players – all across the globe.
Despite its immense popularity, Roblox has always stumbled into controversy. In particular, the game’s immense hold on a rather impressionable section of the population (that is, children) has always been a target of some malicious actors.
There have previously been numerous (rightful) concerns regarding the safekeeping of children exposed to the platform, particularly with regard to predators, who often seek to exploit these children.
Roblox has also been historically tone-deaf about these kinds of concerns, either choosing to dismiss them completely or suggesting ludicrous ideas such as turning the platform into a dating site (despite the repercussions).
After what would be eons, things are starting to crumble for Roblox. The company has been facing massive lawsuits, total bans, and even a potential investigation for unlawful activities. A brief look at everything we know below.
Why Is Roblox Banned In Qatar?
Qatar seems to have officially banned Roblox, and users in the region will be met with a ‘No Network’ error when they attempt to access the game. The same was confirmed in an official X post by @aljasranews – in an attempt to ‘protect children and preserve our faith’ – which appears to be the official reason, anyway.
The game is also banned in other countries such as Turkey, Oman, and China.
Roblox Louisiana Lawsuit Explained

Claiming to act on Roblox’s clear lack of safety protocols, the state of Louisiana has decided to sue Roblox, acting on it in an attempt to curb the rise of predators who are alleged to target children on the game platform.
The lawsuit was filed by Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill, and Roblox has since responded to the issue. Roblox claims to have launched multiple methods to curb inappropriate behavior and enforce age-based communication, among other things, in a rather extensive press release.
Roblox Bans Multiple Online Creators
To make matters worse, Roblox looks to have banned the most vocal of its critics from the platform. The most prominent example of this would be in Schelp, who was recently banned after releasing a rather viral video where he talked about Roblox threatening to sue him for exposing multiple individuals on the platform.
The official reason for Roblox to ban the said person is that they were marked as a ‘vigilante’, which honestly seems like a poor excuse at this point.
This was shortly followed by content creators such as KreekCraft and CubeINC leaving the Video Stars Program, a dedicated content-creator-focused platform from Roblox.
Chris Hansen Makes A Return
Chris Hansen of ‘To Catch A Predator’ fame made a comeback, this time aiming his sights on Roblox. Chris has indeed confirmed that their team is knee-deep in the investigation, and has already been in touch with local law enforcement agencies, victims, and even Schelp himself.
What Will Happen To Roblox?
Truth be told, there’s not a whole lot we can say at the moment. It is very likely that Roblox will at the very least, receive some sort of fine or legal restraint, but the possibility of the platform disappearing overnight seems kind of far-fetched. Only time will tell.
