December brings with it another Game Awards show, and 2024’s version was chock full of surprises as usual. Some heartfelt moments, and a lot of game announcements later, the Game of The Year award was announced which marked the end of the show.
While admittedly underwhelming and sometimes downright embarrassing (especially for its 10th anniversary), TGA continues to be of major importance in the video game industry – serving as a platform to celebrate and promote video games.
That being said, you can find a summary of the major announcements and reveals of The Game Awards 2024 listed below.
Major game announcements at The Game Awards 2024

CD Projekt Red kicked off the show with its first ever teaser of The Witcher 4, with Ciri as the new protagonist. The release date is still unknown though, but Geralt is speculated to return as well.
A co-op only version of Elden Ring, known as Elden Ring: Nightrain is also set to launch. This was followed by announcements for The Outer Worlds 2, Slay the Spire 2 and Borderlands 4.
From the Japanese video game industry, fans were treated to the announcement of Virtua Fighter 7 and ‘Project Century’, lead by Ryu Ga Gotoku studio, the team behind the legendary Yakuza series.
The hype train of upcoming releases continued, with Project Robot (new game from Shadow of the Colossus developer) and a new Onimusha game following shortly thereafter. Many ads later, a new Turok game was announced, along with a new Ninja Gaiden game, this time as a 2D side scroller.
TGA 2024 also included some surprise announcements such as a new Palworld update, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s release for the PC.
The show finally ended with a teaser for Naughty Dog’s brand new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
