Assassin’s Creed Shadows features a lot of missions to complete while you explore feudal era Japan as its dual protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe. In particular, players may often run into side missions known as Contracts during their adventure – which bring with them a ton of rewards.
However, these missions can be quite hard to complete at times, and requires you to progress through a fair chunk of the story first. More on these Assassin’s Creed Shadows Contracts below.
All you need to know about Contracts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Contracts are additional side quests which can be done in order to obtain rewards such as Wood, Mineral or even EXP – all of which can help hasten your progression in the game. However, unlocking Contracts requires you to firstly build a Kakurega in your Hideout, which will serve as a hub for your Contracts.
These missions are refreshed with each in-game season change.
Once built, head toward the Kakurega, and wait for the ‘Browse Contracts’ option to appear. Click on the appropriate button (Triangle for PS5), and it should populate a list of available Contracts.
Browse and select your desired Contract, and begin its quest by clicking on the appropriate button (X for PS5). The quest should now be automatically added to your backlog, which you can now locate using your in-game map.
Contract quests are indicated by a blue sword icon, and can be tracked down quite easily.
Contracts also possess a progression bar of sorts, as indicated on the left hand corner of the user interface HUD. For example, if a Contract has you eliminating a set number of hostiles, the bar will fill up with each assassination.
Unlike most campaign missions though, Contracts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows do not require you to flee the region in order to complete it. Once the objectives have been met, the quest will automatically close, and its rewards will be handed over to you immediately.
