League of Legends best Braum build guide: Runes, Itemization, Strategy, and more

The best Braum build has been helping the Heart of Freljord have a much easier time in the League of Legends Season 14 Support meta. He is one of the more reliable picks for the role whose impact in game has not changed much in recent patches.

Braum has a good amount of pick priority in both pro play and solo queue. He has been helping many Support mains climb up the rank ladder, and much of his success comes from how reliable his kit is.

He has incredibly strong diengage tools and can peel exceptionally well for the rest of his carries. Braum will be one of the best picks for you if you often play with a duo who likes playing hyper-carries.

Braum Pros and Cons in League of Legends Season 14

Pros:

  • Braum has always been one of the more reliable support picks in Riot’s MOBA. He has seen a stable pick and ban irrespective of the patch, and much of this is because of his incredible disengage potential. Unbreakable and Glacial Fissure helps him disrupt a fight, and help his team disengage when they are at a disadvantage.
  • He also has incredibly strong peeling options. He can force the enemy to waste a lot of their CC on him, making it much easier for the rest of his team to engage on them. Unbreakable keeps his carries safe, while the stun from Concussive blows allows for some aggressive options.
  • Braum has a pretty strong early game. He has one of the best level one’s out of all the supports, thanks to his passive. This lets him invade the enemy jungle with his jungler, and either get kills on the enemy team or force them to blow their summoner spells.

Cons:

  • Braum struggles a fair bit in lane if he is up against ranged, poke supports. Picks like Brand, Lux, and Karma, will not let him have much agency in the laning phase. You will constantly be pushed under the tower and you will not get too many opportunities to roam the map.
  • Braum lacks proper engage tools. While he is exceptional when it comes to peeling and disengage, he doesn’t have too many options to engage onto the enemy without help from his team. He has a more front-to-back playstyle that does not recommend flanking.
  • Unlike some of the other meta supports, Braum lacks item versatility. Braum’s best build is often set in stone, and apart from purchasing a few situational items he barely has any build diversity.

How to play Braum: Tips and Tricks for League of Legends Season 14

Braum Gameplay

Early Game:

  • Braum is pretty powerful early on, especially if you are in a winning or neutral matchup. If you are not taking too much poke damage, you can look to be a bit more aggressive with your ADC. Help your laner reach level 2 and level 3 before the enemy team, and then try to fish out a kill. Even if you are able to blow the Summoners of the enemy botlane you will be at a major advantage.
  • Braum might not be incredible at roaming, but he can still make small plays in other parts of the map. If you have your lane pushed in, then either help your ADC get turret plates or room the map with your Jungler. Concussive blows are a great tool to get kills and assists in other lanes.
  • Place wards in the enemy jungle. This will let you have more knowledge of the enemy jungler’s pathing. This will prevent you and your ADC from getting caught in a gank, So if you are playing a low-tempo game, look to have plenty of wards around your lane.

Mid Game:

  • In the Mid Game help your ADC have prio over the Mid Lane. Once they start hitting item spikes, your main goal will be to set up for Dragon and other neutral objectives. As the best Braum build offers great disengage, you will be able to peel for your carries making it easier to secure objectives.
  • Your ward game needs to go up at this point. Vision is everything in League of Legends, so always look to place wards strategically. While placing down your vision, use your sweepers to take out enemy wards around the Dragon and Baron pits.
  • If a fight breaks out your priority will always be to keep your ADC safe. Only go for aggressive plays when there is no backline threat on the enemy team.

Late Game:

  • In the Late Game, your primary goal will be helping your ADC to stay alive in extended teamfights. Use Unbreakable and Stand Behind Me to soak up most of the enemy damage and CC. Make the most of Glacial Fissure to control how you want the teamfight to go.
  • The importance of vision goes up in the late game. While scouting out the enemy position and preventing a Baron sneak, you will also be able to spot an enemy flank. However, at this point don’t roam the map alone and only place deep wards if you have help from the rest of your team.
  • Try catching out the enemy carries with Winter’s Bite. Not only will it chip away at their health but even apply a stack of Concussive Blow. This will force them to be a bit more defensive and not walk up to you.
