League of Legends best Nilah build guide: Runes, Itemization, Strategy, and more

With how strong Lethality is in League of Legends season 14, the best Nilah build has seen some changes when it comes to her core itemization. The Joy Unbound has risen in popularity off-late, especially because of how easily she can help you climb the competitive ladder this Split.

Nilah scales incredibly well into the late game, however, she is one of the hardest Bot Laner to master because she does not play out like a traditional ADC. Nilah has a high-risk-high-reward playstyle where you will be forced to dash into the enemy because of her short attack range.

Knowing when to go in is key while mastering the champion, however, the best Nilah build in League of Legends season 14 will make things a bit easier for her the later the game goes.

Nilah Pros and Cons in League of Legends Season 14

Pros:

  • Nilah is really good at creating leads for herself. With the Lethality buffs that came in this season, she has been gaining an early lead with The Collector making it easier for her to snowball the rest of the game.
  • Jubilant Veil and Slipstream will let you follow up on engages during an early game gank or even when a fight breaks out. Apotheosis can turn the tides of battle when used correctly helping your teammates have an easier time collapsing onto the enemy backline.
  • Nilah is amazing at securing neutral objectives. You can use her to contest the Baron and Drake, baiting the enemy into forcing a fight with your team. This can often lead to them making a mistake or over-forcing.

Cons:

  • Depending on the match-up, Nilah can struggle quite a bit in the early game. She can be easily bullied and pushed into the tower denying you an early lead.
  • Nilah’s shorter range forces her to close the gap between her and the enemy ADC. This makes her quite vulnerable and heavily dependent on her support to survive during a squirmish.
  • Nilah is pretty hard to master. The very fact that she does not play out like a traditional ADC makes it significantly harder to learn her. While she is rewarding when played right, it takes a fair amount of practice to get used to her kit.

Nilah Tips and Tricks

Early Game:

  • Nilah’s early game will revolve around pushing for level advantages by making the most of her passive “Joy Unending”. She and her lain companion get bonus experience from minions, which is why Nilah and your support will be hitting level 2 one minion before the enemy bot lane. You can surprise your enemies with an early all-in at level 2 and look to blow the enemies’ Summoner Spells, making it easier for the jungler to get a successful gank.
  • If you are in a losing match-up, then your role will be to stay even on farm. Nilah gets her power spikes earlier than most other ADCs, so staying relevant on gold will allow you to get an advantage later on.
  • If you are missing out on gold by failing to last hit, then try not to miss out on XP. Champions like Caitlyn, Draven, and Xayah can make things exceedingly difficult for her in the lane. So if you are not being able to farm, then atleast stay in range of minion XP.

Mid Game:

  • The Mid Game is when you start hitting your item spikes with Nilah. So don’t be afraid to take fights and all in on the enemy when your team engages. At this stage of the game, Nilah is one of the best ADC champions in Riot’s MOBA in terms of damage and snowball potential.
  • Nilah is great at taking neutral objectives. When the laning phase is done, make your way to the Mid Lane so that you have access to both the Drake and the Baron. Start up the objectives if you are grouped up with your team, forcing your enemy to engage and contest for the objective.
  • Nilah has a good turn from peeling the objective. She can refocus on the enemy team and engage with them when their abilities are on cooldown.

Late Game:

  • Nilah’s Late Game is all about positioning and finding the right opportunity to go all in on the enemy team. Try not to be too trigger-happy with your E and R and actually wait for the rest of your team to collapse.
  • Your goal will be to gain backline access and burst down the enemy carries before they are able to press any buttons. So while you will need to position aggressively for it to happen, make sure you don’t get caught out by the enemy CC and give away a free kill.
