The Apple Event for September 9, 2024 detailed a ton of new reveals, including a new iPhone, Apple Watch as well as fine-tuned tweaks to the much anticipated Apple Intelligence, marking a new frontier for the tech giant.

The event can be found summarized below.

Key reveals from the Apple Event of September 9, 2024

Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 2

Apple Watch series 10 from the Apple Event

The new series of Apple Watches boast an all-new design, in addition to several improvements over the existing variants of the watches. Key improvements include a larger display, stronger speakers and longer battery life.

Additional features include wider viewing angles, including the usual bump up to screen brightness – as well as the ability to refresh the display each second, resulting in the first ever appearance of a second hand in the always-on display mode.

The Apple Watch series 10 and Ultra 2 comes with a 4-core Neural Engine in its S10 SIP chipset. As always, the Ultra represents the best in what Apple has to offer in wearables, seeking to refine things even further.

Airpods

All new Airpods

New Airpods were also revealed, powered by the H2 chip – a part of the Apple Silicon lineup of chipsets. In addition to the usual audio quality improvements, there appear to be newer gestures, voice isolation as well as personalized spatial audio.

USB-C connectivity, and, for the first time ever, active noise cancellation were also touted to be major, new features. Wireless charging and an external speaker to better locate the housing unit are also part of the included improvements.

The Airpods Max also received a minor refresh, with new colors and USB-C charging.

iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro

Apple Intelligence

Perhaps one of the most anticipated reveals of the Apple Event, the iPhone 16 remains the most impressive part of the event so far. The major focus seems to be on support for Apple Intelligence and Cameras this time around – in addition to an all-new, refreshed design complete with bold, new colors.

All models of the iPhone 16 come with the Action Button, a dedicated ‘Camera Control’ capacitive button as well as the usual USB-C connector.

The A18 Bionic chip remains exclusive to the 16 series, with all models supporting hardware ray tracing as well as support for full-fledged AAA games.

Battery life has also been improved across the board.

The Pros have also been upgraded with a brand new design. Features seem to be largely similar to the regular iPhone 16 though, just with the usual ‘Pro’ flair. Pros come bundled with the A18 Pro chipset, with even more sizable gains in efficiency and performance.

The much rumored iPhone SE 4 was sadly nowhere to be found though – as were the M4 Macs.
