Many RPGs allow players to respec their abilities, and Path of Exile 2 is no exception. Respeccing allows players to orient their character growth and re-trace back from what could be a previously misconfigured build.
It’s not as simple though, as Path of Exile 2 forces players to sink a few hours into its campaign before unlocking the option. You can find a breakdown of the respec process below.
How to respec in Path of Exile 2
The Hooded One NPC will allow you to repsec passives. To respec, simply interact with him and choose the ‘Refund Passives’ option.
This will immediately bring up the skill tree for Passives.
Now, simply select whatever passive you wish to refund – by clicking on the ‘Refund’ button to confirm the same.
Once refunded, you can choose to spend your points on abilities and passives you had previously ignored – and thus create entirely new builds in the process.
Interestingly, unlike a lot of other games Path of Exile 2 lets you respec passives by refunding individual abilities – and does not reset your entire skill tree in the process.
Do keep in mind that respecs will cost you a fair amount of Gold though. Make sure you have enough stacked up before you begin the process. The amount of gold required will vary from ability to ability.
How to unlock respec options in Path of Exile 2
Respec is unlocked only after you meet with the Hooded One at the Clearfell Encampment. This requires you to invest around 4-5 hours in the game’s campaign, which is just after ‘The Mysterious Shade’ quest in the same region.
Past this encounter, you will gain the ability to respec passives by speaking to the NPC at any point in the game.
