There are seven primary skills in RuneScape Dragonwilds that let you survive in Ashenfall. These range from attack and mining to woodcutting and cooking.
The more you do something, the more XP you get for it and leveling up allows you to unlock new recipes, weapons, blueprints, spells, and other exciting things. This gameplay loop is undoubtedly quite simple, but if you ever feel that you’re lagging behind, there are workarounds to farm XP and level up a lot faster.
Below, we’ve compiled the best ways to farm XP in RuneScape for many skills such as construction, cooking, and mining, and more.
Best XP farming methods in RuneScape Dragonwilds
Construction

The easiest way to level up construction, unsurprisingly, is to build! You’ll be doing this a lot while exploring the world and improving your inventory. However, you can drastically boost this process by following these steps:
- Head to the open world and collect hundreds of Ash logs.
- Go to your crafting menu. Select items that don’t require a lot of materials such as walls, stairs, crafting bench, and barrels (require more materials but grant a decent amount of XP).
- Go to an open space in the building mode and keep pressing left-click to place the items until you run of out of materials. You’ll notice consistent XP gain on your screen.
- Now, press the middle-mouse button or your respective control to delete the structures you just created. You’ll instantly get all your resources back.
- Now, select another item from your crafting menu and repeat the process to again collect a whole bunch of XP.
- When you run out of items to switch to, exit to the main menu to reset your XP cap.
Keep repeating this process until you’re satisfied with your XP gain and construction skill level.
Cooking

Turning dirty water into clean water is one of the most basic yet important things in RuneScape Dragonwilds. As it turns out, doing this on a large scale is the best farming technique for leveling up your cooking skill, too.
You’d want to go to a water source in the open world and fill your inventory with dirty water to the brim. Set up as many cooking pots as you can (3-4) in a small circle and put Ash logs and dirty water in them.
Light up the pots and a constant stream of cooking XP shall appear in your screen until all the dirty water has turned clean. Make sure to refill the pots with Ash logs, though.

You can do this with other food items such as meat as well but considering how easily you can stack up on dirty water, the aforementioned method is the best XP farm in the game.
Use spells whenever possible
It is worth noting that spells grant a ton of XP in RuneScape Dragonwilds. So, as you unlock useful spells such as Axtral Projection (cut down trees with an axe), Splinter (turns fallen trees into wooden logs), rockplosion (break boulders and ores at Rune Essence geysers), make sure to use them in the open world.
By using these spells, you’ll level up your skills related to runecrafting, woodcutting, magic, and mining, among other related things. Each skill has a cooldown and you must be consistent with your timing for maximum results.
Regardless of your intent to farm XP or not, it’s a good habit to use skills wherever possible in the title.
Best way to farm resources
In solo mode, RuneScape Dragonwilds respawns all the natural resources as soon as you log out and log back in. So, any raw material that generates from the open world such as boulders, ores, trees, and plans should respawn every time you log in.

You can exploit this fact to find good spots on the map that have resources in close proximity such as a bunch of boulders and nodes. Cast a spell like rockplosion, collect your resources, log out and log back in. Doing so also resets the cooldown of your spells.
Collecting resources grants you XP associated to the skill that matches best with the item you’re picking up. This is also a great way to stack up on rare resources that you have come across.
Some players have reported that the aforementioned exploit doesn’t work in areas near Bramblemead Valley and when they’re playing in friends. If you’re facing similar problems, try playing in Solo mode and also move to a different in-game area.
Of course, these strategies are not tied to the actual gameplay loop and can take the fun out for a bit. They’re only recommended for players who might’ve hit a plateau and cannot afford to follow the standard grind.
