Taric Pros and Cons in League of Legends Season 14
Pros:
- Taric has great kill pressure during the laning phase in Riot’s MOBA. His Dazzle can catch the enemy Bot lane off guard because of the surprising amount of damage it does. If your ADC follows up on the stun, they will be able to either get a kill on the enemy or force them to blow their summoners.
- Taric scales pretty well into the Late Game. He plays a pivotal role in helping his teammates stay alive longer in fights while CC-ing multiple enemies. Cosmic Radiance is the Ace up his sleeve, and when used right Taric will be able to completely turn a losing teamfight around.
- Taric is decent at roaming and making plays across the map. So if you have gotten the Early Game advantage and have pushed your lane in, you can look to help your other laners get ahead.
Cons:
- While easy to pick up, Taric might be a bit hard to master. This is primarily because of how Dazzle works, and how often you will need to get the timing of your Cosmic Radiance right. It’s often easy to pull the trigger on these abilities forcing you to lose their value during a skirmish.
- Taric is often countered by poke-heavy Bot Lane matchups. Picks like Brand, Zyra, Ashe, Xerath, and Lux can push him into the lane, forcing him and his ADC to farm under the tower. This will often leave you open to a tower dive.
- Taric lacks mobility and proper gap-closing tools. This makes him a bit tricky to pilot when you are the one looking to engage onto the enemy team. Positioning is key with him, and it’s very easy to get caught out and bursted down the later a game goes.
How to play Taric: Tips and Tricks for League of Legends Season 14

Early Game:
- Taric’s early game playstyle will change depending on the Bot Lane match-up that he is in. If you are in a lane where you have the priority then it’s best to play a bit aggressive. Taric’s best build paths let him have a fair bit of sustain and Early Game DPS. So look to catch out the enemy Bot with your Dazzle and force them to blow their summoners.
- If you are in a losing matchup, it’s best to stick to your tower and help your ADC farm under it. Just remember to stay relevant in farm and only go aggressive when your Jungler is around. Taric is great at setting up ganks in his lane.
- If you have your lane pushed up, look to roam the map. Either make plays in other lanes or start putting down deep wards in the enemy jungle. This will let you spot their pathing and prevent your lane from getting caught out when trying to push in.
Mid Game:
- Taric has a decent objective setup. You will be able to help your Jungler get Drakes, Grubs, as well the Rift Herald much more easily than some of the other meta Supports. You can even roam the map to make plays with your Jungler giving your team additional advantages.
- Continue to build your vision score in the Mid Game. As Taric can roam alone, you will not need the support of the rest of your team when placing down Wards. Invade the enemy jungle from time to time and place your vision while destroying the enemy vision with your Sweepers.
- During a skirmish, your role will be to stay at the frontlines and soak up as much damage as possible. Taric’s build makes him surprisingly tanky in the Mid Game, so look to Dazzle enemies when you get the chance and proc Cosmic Radiance when the situation calls for it. Make sure to keep your carries alive at all costs.
Late Game:
- Taric has pretty decent scaling in the Late Game. His best build paths will let you be an incredibly effective frontline once you have some of his core items under your belt. So make sure you are soaking up damage and looking for engages with Dazzle.
- Taric’s sustain and heals are great in the later stages of the game. This makes him good at peeling for his carries allowing them more room to chip at the the enemy frontline. Use your Cosmic Radiance if the enemy collapses on you, this will help you negate the damage and CC that come your way.
- Continue to extend your vision score. Place your wards deep in the enemy territory while clearing enemy vision. Set up for objectives like the Baron and Elder Drake with the rest of your team. You can try positioning a bit aggressively to catch out the enemy carries with your Dazzle.
