Apart from the main campaign, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 features a PvE co-op mode called Operations and a PvP mode, with both featuring different classes.
The Operations mode consists of a separate mission chain, while in the PvP mode, you’ll have to face off against other Space Marines.
So, here’s how you can unlock these two modes in the game.
How to unlock all game modes in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2
To unlock PvP and Operations, you’ll have to complete the Prologue section of the game. Once you’ve completed this mission, you’ll be tasked with returning to the Thunderhawk and selecting the next mission.
Here’s when you’ll be able to access the other game modes that Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 has to offer. You can either select Operations or the Eternal War (PvP).

How to change game modes
- Head to the Battle Barge, and board the Thunderhawk.
- Make a left from the staircase to the console.
- Interact with the console to select one of the three available game modes.
Mode | Description |
---|---|
Campaign | Board the Thunderhawk to continue the next mission in Titus’ story, or pick up at the last checkpoint of a mission you didn’t finish. |
Operations | Choose one of six classes to complete missions, either solo or co-op. Playing as a class will level up to earn perks, with used weapons also getting upgraded as they level up. |
Eternal War | Choose one of six classes to battle head-to-head with other players. One side will be loyalists, while the other plays as Chaos Space Marines. |
When you select any one of the game modes mentioned above, it won’t change your location, but it’ll change the missions and activities available to you.
It’s also worth noting that while you’ll be able to continue your campaign from where you left off because of checkpoints, the same doesn’t apply for the Eternal War or the Operations modes in Warhammer 40K: Space Marines.
