League of Legends best Morgana build guide: Itemization, Counters, Strategy, and more

Morgana has grown to be a reliable Support pick in the current League of Legends meta with her best build options giving her a fair bit of agency. She is one of the easier supports to pick up in Season 14. Fortunately, Morgana has great skill expression and there is indeed a lot that she will be able to do when played right.

She pairs well with aggressive ADCs like Draven, Samira, and Miss Fortune. If you are on point with her Binding, Morgana can very easily win you the lane and help your lane duo snowball through early leads.

Her Black Shield is one of the best anti-CC tools in League of Legends. With the right timing, it can negate most of the engage that the enemy throws at you.

Morgana Pros and Cons in League of Legends Season 14

Pros:

  • Morgana’s Q+W combo is extremely potent when it comes to catching out enemies in League of Legends. It’s one of her best harassment tools in the laning phase. You can try catching the enemy Bot Lane with it, to chunk them out and make it difficult for them to stay relevant in farm and XP.
  • She scales very well into the Late Game, especially if she gets early leads. Morgana’s best build comes with a lot of range and damage in her kit. So if you can catch out the enemy carries with her combo, you will be able to take out a good portion of their HP. This will make it easier for your team to collapse on them.
  • Morgana’s Black Shield and Soul Shackles are some of her best teamfighting tools. If you time your engage right, you will be able to make teamfights significantly easier. She has good play-making potential as well, and you will be able to carry teamfights with her.

Cons:

  • Morgana lacks mobility in her kit. While the Black Shield can help her escape the initial round of CC that the enemy throws at her, she will find it difficult to escape when it’s on a Cooldown. She relies a lot on her Flash, and knowing how to position with her during a skirmish will take a fair bit of practice and know-how.
  • Morgana’s abilities have very long cooldowns, and this is especially true in the Early Game. If you are missing her Q a lot, you are not going to have a good time in the laning phase.
  • Morgana has a very limited Support kit. She struggles to keep her team alive during a teamfight due to the lack of any heal or abilities that provide buffs. She also has limited disengage capabilities which can be problematic based on the team composition you are up against.

How to play Morgana: Tips and Tricks for League of Legends Season 14

Morgana Gamepay Guide

Early Game:

  • If you are in a favorable matchup your Early Game with Morgana is going to be pretty smooth. Your objective will be to harass the enemy laners and push in the wave with your duo to look for early advantages. You can look to secure tower plates or force the enemy to blow their summons by catching them with a Binding.
  • Morgana can be a decent roaming champion. If you are securing early advantages and have pushed in the wave, try to look for plays in other parts of the map. Her Dark Binding is instrumental in setting up ganks, and early kills will make it easier for Morgana to get her build done faster.
  • Always look to ward around the lane in the Early Game. You can look to place deep Wards in the enemy jungle, so that you are constantly aware of where the Jungler is pathing to next. This will help you to avoid getting caught out when pushing up the lane.

Mid Game:

  • Look to keep extending your Gold lead during the Mid Game. Morgana starts hitting hard when her best builds slowly start to come online, so keep up the pressure and look to take down the neutral objectives like the Drakes and the Rift Herald. She has a decent setup around the two pits, so you will not be struggling with securing objectives even if you are behind.
  • During the Mid Game you will need to be a bit mindful of how you are using her Black Shield. It has a very high cooldown at this stage of a match, so don’t use it prematurely. Only press the trigger when you are sure that the enemy is about to start throwing their CC abilities.
  • With her Black Shield, Mogana has a relatively easier time placing deep Wards and clearing enemy vision. It’s hard to engage on to her when her shield is up, which is why she does not need to be accompanied by a teammate when placing vision in the enemy jungle.

Late Game:

  • Morgana is not going to have a good time in the Late Game if you are behind on Gold and XP. She will struggle to stay relevant in teamfights forcing you to be more defensive with your positioning. So kite around the skirmish and look to CC the enemy carries when you get a chance.
  • Her Soul Shackles is a very powerful teamfighting tool as it will be able to root multiple enemies in place. Morgana’s best build paths usually have Zhonya’s Hourglass as one of her core items. It synergizes incredibly well with her ultimate, allowing her to have an easier time channeling the entire ability.
  • Make sure to help your team secure neutral objectives while improving your vision score. Morgana’s Dark Binding can hit the enemy Jungler and keep them out of the Dragon and Baron pit, making it easier for your Jungler to Smite the objective.
