Destiny 2: Best weapons to get in The Final Shape

With The Final Shape expansion, Destiny 2 has received a lot of new as well as returning Legenrady and Exotic weapons. The loot pool is huge this time, and deciding which are the best weapons to tackle some of the harder challenges in the new expansion can be difficult.

Therefore, to help you decide, below is a list of some of the best weapons you should pick up during your time in Destiny 2’s The Final Shape.

7 best weapons in Destiny 2 The Final Shape

7) Red Death Reformed

Red Dead Reformed Destiny 2 The Final Shape
  • Weapon Type: Primary Pulse Rifle
  • Weapon Affinity: Solar

The Red Death Reformed is among the many returning exotic in Destiny 2. The weapon was a part of the original Destiny, however, several variations have been made before it was reintroduced in The Final Shape.

The original Red Death Reformed one a fan favorite due to its ability to heal your Guardian on kill. The Final Shape version does something similar but uses the Solar affinity to heal you and your teammates around you.

This is why, this weapon is considered to be one of the best for Solar builds, especially if it’s paired with the Ember of Benevolence fragment.

Additionally, later on in the season pass, you will be able to get a catalyst for the Red Death Reformed. Once equipped, the catalyst will leave a healing remnant behind. Teammates will be able to use it to heal themselves.

6) Martyr’s Retribution

Martyr's Retribution Destiny 2 The Final Shape
  • Weapon Type: Special Grenade Launcher
  • Weapon Affinity: Solar

Marty’s Retribution was a weapon that was introduced during Season of Dawn. It was quite popular amongst players at the time as it was a wave frame grenade launcher that was capable of shooting powerful waves of energy on the ground. It would then go through multiple enemies making it an amazing choice for AoE clears.

Martyr’s Retribution is capable of chain-killing enemy hordes with just its splash damage. It gets Incandescent as one of its perks, which makes enemies that you kill with it explode and deal damage to those in the blast radius.

This makes the weapon perfect for clearing out enemy clusters, and it’s not surprising why many are choosing to use it to clear Salvation’s Edge.

5) No Hesitation

No Hesitation Destiny 2 The Final Shape
  • Weapon Type: Primary Auto Rifle
  • Weapon Affinity: Solar

No Hesitation is the new legendary, support frame auto rifle that is capable of firing two different types of tracking bullets. The bullet type will depend on whom you are firing the weapon at.

If you are shooting an enemy then you will deal damage to them. The more damage you deal the more a meter will fill up on your screen. This meter determines the amount of healing bullets that you have.

Now if you aim the weapon at an ally, the bullets will instead heal them. However, this will deplete the meter that you have built up, and you will need to build it up again by shooting enemies.

Previously, Lumina was the only exotic hand cannon that was capable of healing allies. Now as No Hesitation is a Legendary, it can free up an Exotic slot if you are opting for the weapon.

No Hesitation also drops with a perk called Physic. This will give you and your allies nearby restoration when healing a teammate. Additionally, the Circle of Life perk will also buff the damage that the weapon does after you heal someone.

No Hesitation is currently one of the best support weapons in Destiny 2 The Final Shape.

4) Lost Signal

  • Weapon Type: Special Grenade Launcher
  • Weapon Affinity: Stasis

The Final Shape also introduced a new archetype of grenade launcher, Lost Signal. It has a framework that lets it shoot missiles that spawn a pool and enemies standing on it will take damage over time.

This is another great wave-clearing weapon, and perfect in situations where you know that a cluster of enemies is going to start to group up. Another aspect that makes the weapon shine is its ammo efficiency.

You will be able to obtain The Lost Signal by completing the first episode of The Final Shape. Additionally, you can also get your hands on it by decrypting Echoes engrams at the HELM.

You will also be able to get one by just completing the tiers in the free-to-play track of the season pass.

3) Still Hunt

Silent Hunt Destiny 2 The Final Shape
  • Weapon Type: Special Sniper Rifle
  • Weapon Affinity: Solar

When it comes to raw damage numbers, Still Hunt tops the charts out of all the DPS weapons in Destiny 2. While it might function like any regular sniper riffle, the Still Hunt has a meter system that fills up when you either collect orbs of power or get 6 precise hits on a target.

Once the meter fills up, you can then hold the reload button and transform this weapon into a golden gun. When transformed, even Titans and Warlocks will be able to use it, even though the gun is usually limited to Hunters.

While you might be seeing more PvP applications for it, the gun can actually outshine other weapons during boss and mini-boss encounters. If you pair it with the Celestial Nighthawk Hunter helmet, the golden gun will turn into a single incredibly powerful hot.

If used correctly, it can melt through the HP bar of most bosses that The Final Shape has to offer, making Still Hunt the most powerful weapon in Destiny 2.

2) Ergo Sum

Silent Hunt Destiny 2 The Final Shape
  • Weapon Type: Special Sword
  • Weapon Affinity: All Light Elements

Ergo Sum is the new exotic sword in The Final Shape and what makes it an incredible armament is the RNG on its rolls. The sword has a lot of random pools, which will let you gain a ton of perks that will make the weapon unique.

It uses a special ammo type and you will be able to use it in conjunction with other heavy weapons. You will also be able to roll it with any sword frame, hence there are a lot of options that you will get when rolling the weapon, and it’s a pretty neat idea to target farm it.

Ergo Sum can get the perks of the Gjallarhorn rocket launcher as well, this will let you shoot out Wolfpack Round mini-rockets when you hit an enemy. Depending on the rolls you get the sword can be extremely overpowered.

1) Aberrant Action

  • Weapon Type: Special Rocket Sidearm
  • Weapon Affinity: Solar

The Abbarent Action is a versatile entry on the list as it can fit both solar as well as prismatic builds. Additionally, you will be able to turn it into a utility weapon with perks like Heal Clip and Incandescent.

This gives it a lot of playstyle versatility, allowing you to make the most of the weapon in different situations. In terms of its DPS numbers, it’s a lot like the Indebted Kindness. Hence, it has great wave clear and can be especially handy in many boss encounters.

With the release of the first episode, you will be able to Focus the weapon. This will let you obtain the rolls that you want and make it fit your playstyle.
