What is Prismatic?

In Destiny 2 The Final Shape, Prismatic is a new power that Guardians can access. This power can be found in areas where Light and Darkness overlap.
The most interesting bit about Prismatic is Transcendence, which is an ability when that gives you a special grenade depending upon the class that you’re playing as.
The special Grenades available are as follows:
Class | Grenade | Description |
---|---|---|
Hunter | Hailfire Spike | Throw a device charged with Stasis matter and Solar energy that attaches to surfaces or targets and then erupts into a slowing storm. After a short duration, the device ignites, creating a deadly scorching cyclone. |
Titan | Electrified Snare | Throw an explosive device energized with Strand matter and Arc energy that detonates in a supercharged suspending burst. The suspended target takes heavy damage over time and chains jolting lightning to any nearby targets. |
Warlock | Freezing Singularity | Throw a mass of Void energy and Stasis matter. On impact, it deploys a miniature black hole orbited by a halo of slowing ice. After a short duration, the black hole implodes, suppressing and dealing heavy damage to all nearby targets. |
To activate Transcendence, you need to deal enough damage with both Light and Darkness sources. Kinetic damage recharges your Transcendence bar too but at a slower rate.
When using Prismatic in Destiny 2, you will be able to mix and match different abilities from all the subclasses that you’ve unlocked so far.
How to unlock Prismatic in Destiny 2 The Final Shape
You will be able to unlock the base version of Prismatic at the end of the first mission after you’ve ventured into the Pale Heart of the Traveler in Destiny 2 The Final Shape campaign.
However, it’s worth noting that in order to completely unlock Prismatic, you need to own The Final Shape expansion.

And as you progress through the different missions in the campaign, you will come across different chests containing different Prismatic Aspects and Fragments.
