All High-Profile Figures Backing “Cancel Netflix”— Elon Musk, Graham Allen, Danielle D’Souza Gill, and more

A new boycott is brewing and gaining significant traction, with subscribers being urged to abandon Netflix. It has been amplified by the coalition of some high-profile voices from politics, tech and media worlds. The movement has reignited some past criticisms of Netflix, while centering around accusations that streaming platforms are promoting content that is unsuitable for kids. This rallying cry has moved much more beyond niche online circles and has reached a global audience and is now sparking widespread conversations on values and entertainment.

Influential voices backing the Cancel Netflix campaign

The cancel Netflix movement has now found a powerful megaphone in many prominent figures. The tech billionaire, Elon Musk, has directly instructed his followers to “Cancel Netflix for the health of your kids.” He later even confirmed that he, too, has terminated his subscription. His involvement has offered a massive platform for this campaign, thereby dramatically increasing the visibility of it.

While Elon Musk promoted the cancel culture, Graham Allen, the founder of Dear America, a conservative outlet too, has joined the boycott. He declared, “CANCEL NETFLIX!!! They are coming for your children!”

Adding to this political weight, the wife of Congressman Brandon Gill, Danielle D’Souza Gill, has publicly thanked Musk for his stance. She even encouraged others to follow his lead.

The backlash has drawn support from the media personality Benny Johnson, too. He urged followers to cancel their subscription, while adding, “Here’s just one example of Netflix promoting transgender and woke ideology to kids. Tens of thousands have already canceled; now it’s your turn. Take Netflix down. Enough is enough.”

YoungHoon Kim, the World’s Highest IQ Record (276), too, declared, “Every Christian should cancel Netflix!”

Even popular streamer Tectone didn’t stay behind. He questioned the push of certain types of themes within Children’s programming. His words read, “We’re reaching levels of cringe I didn’t think humanly possible. Stop pushing transgenderism on children. What the heck are you doing?”

Further support came from social media influencers like Kangmin Lee and Ian Miles Cheong. Even Author Juanita Broaddrick and Producer Jack shared their cancellation stories. With all the voices rising, and calling out for cancellation of Netflix subscription, the platform has reportedly lost $15.1 billion in market value.

What is the common thread of contention for the Netflix boycott?

Elon Musk cancel culture campaign is now voiced by many high-profile voices like Graham Allen and Danielle D’Souza Gill

What brings together these figures from diverse fields is their objection to the LGBTQ+ representation, in specific, the transgender themes. They are concerned about Netflix’s content connected to such themes, particularly with the shows that are targeted towards a young audience. This controversy started because of a particular show called Dead End: Paranormal Park, that features transgender protagonist. Critics are labelling inclusion of such characters to be “woke agenda” and “trans propaganda,” arguing that the subjects are being forced upon kids.

The situation got further inflamed by some resurfaced online commentary coming from Hamish Steele, the creator of the show. Allegations that Steele tried to make light of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s shooting have added a layer of political grievance to the cultural complaints. All these combinations of factors—objection to certain content, disapproval of external statements of the creator, etc., have created a potent mix, which fueled widespread calls for a boycott across the conservatively leaning social media.
