Barstool founder Dave Portnoy slams Monica McNutt for questioning Taylor Swift’s loyalty to the Knicks. When Swift appeared courtside at Madison Square Garden, McNutt was caught on a hot mic saying, “She’s not a Knicks fan. Get out of here, girl.”
This unexpected broadcast moment from the Knicks radio analyst has stirred up quite a bit of controversy, with both fans and sports commentators quickly jumping into the debate.
Dave Portnoy was one of the many who slipped into the conversation, and went onto cricize the analyst on X by saying, “Damn. Hate to see @McNuttMonica hating on Taylor Swift. Lots of new faces in the crowd. Don’t see her singling them out. Knicks are falling apart at the seams.”
However, the reception from fans towards the analyst’s comments has been mixed. There are many who have criticized McNutt and called her unprofessional for not knowing that Swift has had a long-standing history as a Knicks fan.
There are also those who were in support of what McNutt said, and mentioned that Swift is not an actual Knicks fan, pointing out that, “she did sit courtside for the cavs when they played the Knicks. It was like two weeks ago.”

Dave Portnoy has been a very big supporter ot Taylor Swift from the very beginning. He had taken a stand for her against Kim and Kanye and had also received a letter from her in 2024 for all the support that he had shown her over the years. The letter read,
“Dave, I am so happy you are at the show tonight. I wanted to say thank you for always being so supportive, so loyal, for having my back when a lot of people didn’t. I hope you have a blast tonight. Love, Taylor.”
Dave Portnoy also has a custom jacket that features all of Swift’s musical eras. So it’s not really too surprising that he got pretty upset after hearing the rumor that Sift and Kelce might have Madison Square Garden as their wedding venue. He goes on a rant saying,
“There are rumors that the Taylor Swift Travis Kelce wedding is gonna take place at Madison Square Garden. I don’t know where this came from, maybe it’s a fake out, but if this is true, it would have to be the greatest stock down in the history of this game. Taylor Swift cannot get married at Madison Square Garden… It’s a dump everywhere around there. Why would you, when you can get married anywhere? Why would you do it there?”
All in all, the debate around her presence at the Knicks game and the following McNutt comment is a pretty heated one. There are arguments on both sides, and we do not see this controversy dying down any time soon.
