Popular Twitch streamer Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker has been banned for the sixth time on Amazon-owned streaming platform, Twitch after talking about the Israeli Embassy staff shooting that happened in Washington DC.
The streaming platform clearly stated why they banned him, and what according to the platform’s Terms of Service (ToS) was considered as improper handling of terrorist propaganda.
According to the service, individuals will warrant a global suspension if they are found:
- Showing a violent extremist manifesto on stream while denouncing it.
- Speaking out against terrorist organizations while displaying a recruitment video.
HasanAbi accepted this ban but has also expressed that Twitch should change their policies allow content creators to address more pressing global issues.
“I covered the motives of the israeli embassy staff shooter. twitch tos dictates a suspension for even critical examination of the manifesto. I believe this is a bad policy for news and press freedom.”

It’s believed that the Twitch adpocalypse has played a role in enforcing HasanAbi’s ban. For the uninitiated, the Adpocalpyse is a situation that’s been allegedly happening for a while on the streaming platform.
Given the rise of an immense number of political streamers on the Amazon-owned streaming platform, advertisers have started moving away from the platform.
It’s been spotted that individuals who cover political content have received lower ad revenue, compared to individuals streaming non-political content.
There’s been a lot of controversy over this, and while many have claimed that there’s an ongoing adpocalypse on Twitch, CEO Dan Clancy denounced any such instance on stream in December last year.
However, HasanAbi’s ban has fueled the fires of the Twitch adpocaplyse once again. When the ban happened, it was allegedly a non-working day for the company, and no one was apparently in office, so there’s a possibility that it was an emergency ban.
