Minecraft Summer Drop 2025 is among the most anticipated arrivals, and it is set to bring a variety of new content into the sandbox title. Essentially, the upcoming summer update will result in the addition of new mobs, blocks, music discs, visual settings, and more. The developers at Mojang are also going to fix different bugs and glitches to ensure a smooth experience in the game.

With the summer drop approaching very soon, fans are on their toes, looking for all the possible information. Here is a detailed guide on all the new content that will be released as part of the Minecraft Summer 2025 update.

New mob – Dried Ghast

You can fly using Happy Ghast in Minecraft

The major highlight of the summer drop is the Dried Ghast, which is a new block variant of the original Ghast. You can find this block in the Nether’s Soul Sand Valley, particularly near fossils. Alternatively, you can also craft it using soul sand and ghast tears.

If you place the Dried Ghast in water, it will go through a transformation involving three stages: Dried Ghast, Ghastling, and finally, Happy Ghast. The Happy Ghast is a rideable mob, and you can use it as a mode of aerial transportation. However, you will have to craft a new item named a harness to ride the same. You can essentially create it by using leather, glass, and wool. There are 16 color variants available, which will depend on the wool that you use.

Quality-of-life improvements

One of the best things that Mojang will bring with the summer update 2025 is the quality-of-life improvements. First things first, they are introducing the ability to craft saddles, and you will be able to make them using three pieces of leather and one iron ingot. As a result of the same, the saddles have been removed from chests across different structures.

Other than this, they are making changes to the lead, and you will be able to attach two or more mobs using the same. You would also be able to remove leads using shears and dispensers containing shears. Shears will additionally enable you to remove saddles from mobs.

However, you must keep in mind that you will not be able to remove the saddles from ravagers and mobs that currently have a rider. Crouching during the same will also prevent you from removing saddles.

Shears have received a few other updates, and you can now use them to remove other items like horse armor, harnesses, and carpets from mobs.

The Summer Update 2025 is going to result in the addition of a new music disc – Tears. It can be acquired when you kill a ghast using a deflected fireball. Aside from this, five other new soundtracks have been introduced, each playing at a different biome. Here are the exact details:

  • Lilypad – Frozen peaks and groves
  • Below and Above – Cherry groves
  • O’s Piano – Lush caves
  • Broken Clocks – Forests
  • Fireflies –Deserts

The game is also receiving a setting, which will allow you to adjust the frequency of the background music. These are the settings: Default, Frequent, and Constant. Another setting to arrive will be the Show Music Toast, which will display a pop-up whenever a new music track starts.

Speaking of the visual changes, the Vibrant Visuals graphics upgrade is set to arrive. This new setting will allow you to tweak things like shadows, enhanced lighting, and more. It will only be available for the Bedrock Edition. The Java Edition is receiving environmental fog, allowing you to control the fog intensity.

Lastly, there are three new commands arriving in the game in the form of:

  • /dialog
  • /version
  • /waypoint

All of them are pretty self-explanatory.

This is it for all the new changes that will be introduced in the new Minecraft Summer Drop 2025.
