With Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, Bethesda has introduced a new mechanic to races called Origins. Instead of gender, the races are now divided based on Origins which lead to a slight change in the stats and your character’s background lore.
When picking your character’s race in the game, you’ll also be asked to choose its Origin. To help you make this choice without any confusion, we’ve listed all the Origins in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, the race they belong to, and what difference they make.

Best Origins to pick in Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered

Luckily, Origins do not affect gameplay that deeply, as the stat differences mentioned above can be easily recovered as you level up. However, a general rule is to have a rough idea of the build you want for your character, and pick your tools accordingly.
For instance, Redguard is one of the best classes for a melee build, so picking Dragontail Mountain would ensure that your character has all the strength needed in combat. However, by picking Alik’r Desert, you’ll essentially diversify your build as your character can now be persuasive through dialogue as well.
And now that it’s established that stats can be altered to a large degree with progression, we advise you to focus more on the Origins backstory while picking it. This will add another layer to your roleplaying experience, which is what Oblivion is all about at the end of the day.
