The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered has a revamped Attribute System that plays a very important part in progression. Each Attribute plays a different role for your character, and increasing their levels will unlock certain bonuses that can either help you get more powerful or let you have an easier time bargaining prices at stores if you are not using Console Commands for items and resources.
To make the most of your time in Oblivion, you will want to know everything there is to know about all the Attributes in the RPG. So if you are looking to master the system, then the guide below will help you out.
All Attributes in Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered explained
Here is a list of all the Attributes in Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered, along with their effects when you level them:
Attribute | Effect | Related Skills |
---|---|---|
Strength | When you put points in Strength, you will get to buff your maximum Fatigue. Additionally, you will also be doing more damage with your melee weapons as well as hand-to-hand combat. Your Encumberance or carryweight will also go up as that stat is equal to your total Strength multiplied by 5. | •Blade •Blunt •Hand-to-Hand |
Intelligence | Intelligence will increase your overall Magika pool. Your total Magica is 2 times the Intelligence that you have if you do not have additional Magika buffs from Birthsign and racial bonuses. | •Alchemy •Conjuration •Mysticism |
Willpower | With more points in Willpower, you will be able to improve your overall Magika Regeneration when you are not constantly spamming spells. | •Alteration •Destruction •Restoration |
Agility | Agility is mainly for bow users. This Attribute increases the total damage that you do with bows. | •Security •Sneak •Marksman |
Speed | Speed improves your overall movement speed. With more points in this Attribute, you will also gain more jump length along with a 40% increase in speed at Speed level 100. | •Athletics •Acrobatic •Light Armor |
Endurance | Endurance will let you buff your Health as well as Fatigue. The HP that you start with in the game (without the buffs from Birthsign and race) is roughly equal to twice your total Endurance. This is the best Attribute to max if you are looking for more survivability. Additionally, at every level, you will also receive 10% of your Endurance stat as extra health. | •Armorer •Block •Heavy Armour |
Personality | Personality is tied to the Disposition mechanic in Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered. With more Points in Personality, you will be able to get more discounts when buying items from the shop. Haggling and convincing others to do what you want them to do become much easier with this Attribute leveled up. | •Mercantile •Speechcraft •Illusion |
Luck | The Luck Attribute affects everything in the game to a certain extent. It has an effect on most major and Minor skills. While there is no direct stat that represents in which way Luck will affect your Attributes and Skills, having some points in it is bound to make progression a lot easier. | •Slightly boosts all skills except Acrobatics & Athletics |

The best Attributes to max first when starting Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered
The Attributes that you max out first will depend a lot on the type of playstyle that you are going for, along with the difficulty that you have picked.
In lower difficulty levels, you will not struggle much in the early encounters. You will be able to tank through most incoming damage, so putting points in Endurance is not something that you will need to do. So, put points in Strength or Intelligence first based on the build that you are going for.
You can also go for Willpower if you are going for a more Paladin-type hybrid playstyle that needs more Magika regen speed for heals.
If you are going for a Bow or Dagger build, putting points in Agility and Speed, respectively, will help you quite a bit.
However, do keep in mind that if you are playing Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered on Expert or Master difficulty settings, then putting points in Endurance first will be the way to go. You will need all the defenses that you can muster before you start putting more points in other Attributes.
You can leave Personality and Luck for last, unless there is a particular RPG-esque playstyle that you are going for.
