Runes play an important role in RuneScape Dragonwilds, letting you unlock features like teleportation and skills related to mobility, environment altering, among other exciting things.

How to get Rune Essence in RuneScape Dragonwilds
Rune Essence has to be harvested from Rune Essence Geysers spread all around Temple Woods and Bramblemead Valley. The exact locations for over 25 of these Geysers have been marked in the image below:
It is hard to miss a Rune Essence Geyser in the woods. These are holes in the ground emitting stones and a vibrant mist. Nearby, you’ll find rocks that can be mined with a pickaxe to obtain Rune Essence.
You can also mine the rocks floating above the geyser. Use a projectile attack with a spell or a staff/bow or use the Rockplosion spell on them. The rockplosion spell is unlocked at Runecrafting lv 11., and requires 15 Earth Runes and five Fire Runs to be cast.
All Runes in RuneScape Dragonwilds
You first need to create a Rune Altar using four Rune Essence and twelve Stones, two commonly found items in the open world.
This machine lets you create Air and Astral Runes by default, and leveling up the Runecrafting skill lets you unlock more craftable types. Simply collecting Rune Essence and creating Runes (one Rune Essence = 10 Rune Stones) lets you level up this skill.
