In The First Descendant, Kuiper Shards and Gold are two of the most important resources that you will need as you progress through the different levels.
Although you can earn both these items at a steady pace just by playing the different missions in the game, there are only a handful number of ways through which you can efficiently earn these items.
Also, it’s worth noting that these farming methods are specific to the Hard mode only. So it’s recommended that you clear the story first and unlock Hard mode before you start farming these currencies.
How to farm Kuiper Shards and Gold in The First Descendant
Before you start farming Kuiper Shards, ensure that you’ve equipped a Reactor that influences Kuiper Shard drop rates. Once you’ve done that, you can run the following missions repeatedly, because they have a good enemy density:
- Zone Recon mission in The Fortress area
- Zone Recon mission in The Sterile Lands area
For both these farms its best if you use Descendants like Valby or Bunny. Since they can control crowds easily, and can damage enemies through DoT and AoE Damage.
It’s worth mentioning here that because Valby is the best when it comes to farming Kuiper Shards an Gold in The First Descendant, these missions are known as Valby Runs.
That aside, the developers have also mentioned that they won’t be looking to nerf this method at this point. Instead they’re looking at other areas where players can adequately farm for resources.
In case you don’t have access to either Descendant, you can use any character that you please, but make sure that you kill the smaller enemies as quickly as you can. Whenever you see a boss spawn in these missions, ignore it, because the mission will end the moment the boss dies.
Each run lasts for around 5 minutes, but you’ll earn multiple Kuiper Shards and around 200k gold for every run that you complete.
You’ll also earn a lot of Modules while completing these missions. You can dismantle the ones that you don’t need to get your hands on more Kuiper Shards in The First Descendant.
