How to start fishing and begin your journey as a Fisherman in Brighter Shores

To start fishing in Brighter Shores, you will first need to get your hands on the Fishing Spear. You will be able to purchase this item for 12 Silver from the small building that has a fishing sign on it. So make sure you look at some of the best avenues of making money in the game.
The building is located to the right of Town Square, and after you purchase the rod, you will now need to catch a fish that matches your Fisherman level. If you are at level 0, then the only fish that you will be able to catch at this point is the Mottled Flounder which can be located on a beach to the south of Sea Road.
There is no mechanical fishing game to look forward to in the MMO. To catch a fish, all you have to do is locate it, right-click on it, and then select “Catch”. You can spot a fish by spamming the Sense spell, near a body of water, and the fish will be highlighted for you.
With the more you catch, your Fisherman level will go up and unlock access to new and higher-tier fish. The low-tier fish will be replaced by them keeping your XP gain rate steady. By leveling the fishing profession you will get the following unlocks:
- Lvl 50: Journeyman Fishing Cape
- Lvl 100: Adept Fishing Cape

How to Enchant fishing equipment

Enchanting fishing equipment like the Fishing Spear will give the time an experience boost. However, to be able to enchant gear in the MMO you will first need to locate the Enchantress.
Then spending some Silver you will be able to upgrade an equipment of choice. To give the Fishing Spear an enchantment you will need 55 Silver and it will then gain a 0.4% XP boost. Fortunately, the enchantment is tied to your character and not to the gear itself.
So if you are switching to another Fishing Spear down the line, you will be able to carry over the enchantment to it.
Best Brighter Shores early game Fisherman leveling guide
Here is what you should be focusing on if you are looking to comfortably level our Fisherman profession in the early game:
Fisherman Level | Fish to focus on |
---|---|
Level 0-2 | In the initial levels, you need to make your way to East Beach and start catching Mottled Flounder. Keep catching them till your inventory is full and then sell them to the Fishmonger in Eel Street. |
Level 2-4 | Head to Eel Street Bridge now and then scan for Lesser Eel there. Catch them till your inventory is full. You can either sell the Lesser Eel or store it way in the ingredient cabinet of the Delectable Dab Restaurant kitchen to cook them later and level your Chef profession. |
Level 4-8 | Head to Willhope Crossing and look for Sandy Pufferfish which will be one of the best sources of Fisherman XP at this point. You can sell these for good money as well. Apart from the Sandy Pufferfish, you can look to catch Olive Flunder (replaces Mottled Flounder) as well in the East Beach. |
Level 9-12 | Pufferfish will be the best way to make money and earn XP at this point. However, if you are looking to level the Chef profession, Eel will be the best. |
After you have reached level 15, you can upgrade the Fishing Spear, and progression from here on out will be much smoother. Just keep catching all the fish till you ultimately unlock the Prime Ray at level 490.
