How to get and use Exquisite Blood in Diablo 4

Exquisite Blood is a rare resource you will acquire in Diablo 4 to summon the Uber Boss, Lord Zir. The resource was a core part of the end-game loop all the way back in Season of Blood. However, farming Lord Ziir remains relevant even today, as the boss continues to provide a higher drop rate for Unique items like the Necromancer’s Lidless Wall.

Here is a guide on some of the best ways of acquiring Exquisite Blood in Diablo 4 to summon Lord Zir.

How to farm Exquisite Blood in Diablo 4

Exquisite Blood is a very rare resource that you will get as a drop from World Bosses as well as Legion events in Diablo 4. The latter will be the faster option as a Legion event will spawn every 30 minutes in various locations around Sanctuary.

When they are active, you will find World Bosses and Legion Events marked on the map. So just make your way there and complete the tasks to earn Exquisite Blood.

It’s one of the hardest Uber Boss summoning resources in the game, and to get your hands on a sufficient amount you might need to grind out these two events multiple times.

Diablo 4 Lord Zir

The version of Lord Zir that you will be able to farm in Diablo 4, is restricted to World Tier 4. You will be able to find him in The Darkened Way dungeon, located in the southeastern part of the Fractured Peaks.

If you find the dungeon to be inaccessible, then it’s likely because you haven’t made enough progress in the current Seasonal Journey.

Once you have the dungeon unlocked, reach the end of The Darkened Way at the The Ancient’s Seat boss lair. You must place nine Exquisite Blood vials at the Bloodied Altar to summon the boss.

It’s going to be one of the hardest encounters in the RPG as Zir is an Uber Boss and comes with four phases in total. He deals a ton of fire damage and creates blood puddles on the ground.

He will occasionally summon Bloodseekers to help him out, so you will need a proper build to have an easier time in the encounter. Focusing armor around improving your Fire and Shadow resistances will make Lord Zir significantly more manageable.
