The table above is slightly incomplete because Chapter 6 Season 2 is expected to have two more updates along with the ones mentioned. The schedule for those updates, however, is currently unknown.
Fortnite Chapter 6 theme and map changes
The first Fortnite Chapter 6 teaser officially arrived on November 26, revealing its theme: Hunters. The text in the promo image also teased that the next season will be influenced by Japanese culture.
The map is naturally expected to change, and is set to contain the following biomes:
- Shrine
- Rivers
- Plains
- Farmland
- Purple Forest
Interestingly enough, the Purple Forest biome is set to feature a day/night cycle, and depending upon the time of day, a specific set of animals will spawn.
The map is also set to have something similar to an Industrial Town. Although the name of this POI is currently unknown, the map does have a few references that hint at this.
An artwork posted by Fortnite’s official X account for Japan has also revealed an upcoming POI comprising traditional Japanese architecture and cherry blossom trees. Expect something similar to Lucky Landing, a POI added in Chapter 1 Season 3.
A character from the official Battle Pass teaser can be seen holding a new weapon in the artwork too. Based on the design, it is safe to assume that this new weapon is a rifle.
Leaked skins and collaborations
Another promo image featuring the Battle Pass skins in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 was shared officially on November 26, 2024. It involved well-renowned Japanese legends alongside two crossovers, Godzilla and Baymax.
Of all the prominent collaborations that are rumored to happen in the new chapter, one with Marvel Rivals is set to go live in Fortnite Chapter 6.
Although the dates haven’t been revealed yet, it’s expected to go live in December alongside Winterfest, the game’s yearly Christmas celebrations.
There’s also a K-POP collaboration that is set to go live next year on January 14. The collaboration is going to happen with a group called NewJeans, who are set to be featured in the Fortnite Festival too.
Last, but not least, the Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 Victory Umbrella (the glider you get after your first Victory Royale in the new season) is called Shogun ‘Brella.
Upcoming mechanics and game modes
The new Fortnite chapter could feature two new mechanics which are:
- Swinging: Players will be able to swing from one spot to another.
- Prone: Players will finally be able to go prone completely, adding a new dimension to combat.
Apart from that, the following new game modes are expected to go live in the new season:
- Codename ‘Figment’: OG Related Gamemode, available in Build and Zero Build, all squad sizes available.
- Codename ‘LightBunny’: Mini-BR with maximum 50 players, possible Solos only mode.
- Codename ‘Feral’: 5v5 Core Mode with ranked.
- Codename ‘Sprout’: Lego game mode based on jobs.
- Codename ‘Rivalry’: Unknown Lego game mode.
- Codename ‘Imperial’: Unknown, BR vehicles involved, contains NPCs.
- Codename ‘SweetSpoon’: Unknown LTM/Game mode.
- Codename ‘Sunflower’: A Reload playlist to switch between the 2 Reload maps every 60 minutes, will release next update.
Dataminers also suggest that cat-like animals will be present in the new season. Although not much is known about these creatures, they’re probably being called Sprites, and will have different elemental affinities.
Chapter 6 will also feature Demon/Oni masks. Based on the recent leaks, it appears there are four masks based on elements named Void, Wind, Water, and Flame. You can find them in unique chests and they’ll grant you different abilities upon usage.
It is worth noting that Fortnite OG will also return as a permanent game mode in Chapter 6. This means that while enjoying the brand-new content, you’ll also have the option to take a break, go down memory lane, and relive your favorite Chapter 1 moments.
