To say that the hype surrounding Rockstar Games’ upcoming Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 is immense would be an understatement. After all, it has been nearly over a year since the first game trailer for the title was dropped.
Fans have been clamoring for a second trailer, and possibly an eventual 2025 release date – which might happen sooner or later, as per a recent leak from a Twitter/X user known as remus_r. More on the same below.
Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) second trailer to drop next week
Twitter/X user remus_r (@remitermus_) dropped a cryptic Tweet on December 21, 2024 – which contained a release date for GTA 6’s second trailer.
The Tweet mentions a date of December 27, 2024 – with a showcase time of around 9 AM ET (Eastern Time).
The Tweet also goes into detail about the video’s Asset ID, and creation dates – which are explicitly mentioned to be on December 20, 2024. These are very likely the YouTube upload dates for the trailer, posted by some insider. The trailer is allegedly uploaded by none other than Take-Two Interactive themselves.
The insider has now been confirmed to be an X user by the name of ‘theleaker’ – and is the result of a yet undisclosed security breach at Rockstar Games.
This isn’t the first time hackers have targeted Rockstar Games though – the company has had terribly bad luck with data breaches in the past few years, with a prior leak dumping multiple 3D assets from GTA 6 as well.
While this is all based on speculation (and could very well be untrue), curiously enough, the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 was also leaked in a similar manner on the interwebs.
While this really doesn’t guarantee a release for the second trailer, it still remains intriguing.
27th December could also simply showcase some screenshots instead
Interestingly, recent leaks have also pointed toward the release of multiple in-game screenshots instead. As seen in a Reddit post by user u/No-Mongoose3078, Rockstar’s official website may have been updated to include GTA 6 screenshots recently.
As indicated by the post, this was achieved by a change in the filler ID, which coincidentally is the same as GTA 6.
Regardless, this is also based on speculation and quite simply, an educated guess.
